Did you know that a holder of prospecting & or mining right in Kenya is required by law to maintain insurance cover for Health and Safety risks of its workforce. For compliance purposes, the holder requires an elaborate OHS policy and budget. How can we elevate our ASM sector to cater for such risks which are eminent in this sub group #Safety #Health #Mining #Consultancy #Artisanalmining

DEVELOPMENT GULF PROVINCE FIRST BEFORE YOU COMMENT OF ENGA. THE NATIONAL GOVERNMENT AND ENGA PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT ARE MORE CAPABLE OF HANDLING ALL THE ISSUES WITHIN ENGA. Could Haiveta resolve issues of Gulf Province first before seeing Enga? Remember, Engan world is totally different and diverse than where you come from. Porgera problems started as legacy issues which were and are pending since the start of Old Porgera mine. However, one day, all the issues affecting Porgera and Enga Province as whole will come to end. Engans and Enga connectedness is indispensable and none other. https://lnkd.in/gN96Q_fn.

Do you know why the previous ban on small scale and fire on galamsey was ineffective? You: 1. Failed to cater for future occurrences by abolishing community mining by citizens, underfunded companies in mining, galamsey and encouraging corporations for safety, responsibleness, etc. 2. Failed to hand power to chiefs as primary caretaker through laws and ensuring checks and balances from security services and MMDA"s. 3. Abuse of licence issuance without care for equality and modesty to the lands or mining. 4. Failure to tell the stories to the people through education and media. 5. Failed to mandate corporations to create other business in community and using them for "unnecessary" corporate social responsibilities. Anything to consider? I leave that to you for your thinking - cores - stated. #Africa #IrresponsibleMining #EffectiveLeadership #Focus

Queensland has taken significant steps forward in enhancing safety within the resources sector with the introduction of the Resources Safety and Health Legislation Amendment Bill 2024. At PPS, we're heartened to see such measures, as safety is fundamentally woven into all we do. Minister Scott Stewart's remarks regarding the reform's objectives—to boost safety performance and reduce fatalities and serious accidents—align perfectly with our mission. We continue to uphold stringent environmental and social governance (ESG) standards, ensuring that safety is more than compliance; it’s about genuinely safeguarding our team and stakeholders. #MiningAustralia #AustralianMining Australian Mining https://lnkd.in/gSVXSsPp

EASY TO STOP ZAMA ZAMA:- 1. HOLD MINISTER MINING ACCOUNTABLE FOR FAILING TO ENSURE THAT ABONDEND MINES HAVE NOT BEEN SECURED, PLUGGED & REHABILITATED AS PER LAW. THEN CREATE A NEW REGULATED OPTION. 4. CLOSE DOWN ALL REFINERIES EXCEPT RAND. THEN REVIEW ISSUE LICENCES & REGULATE STRINGENTLY. 5. RESTORE LAW THAT SAID YOU MAY NOT POSSES UNWROUGHT METALS. 6. INTRODUCE AN INFORMAL MINING INDUSTRY WITH STRINGENT LICENCING, REGULATIONS & COMPLIANCE. SELLING GOLD INTO MOBILE LABORATORIES THAT CAPTURES EVERY TRANSACTION FUL DETAILS & PAYMENT. THEY WILL DEDUCT A % THAT WILL BE PAID OVER TO THE GOVERNMENT AS TAX. 7. BRING BACK SPECIALIZED GOLD & DIAMOND BRANCH UNITS. 8. LET THE TRAFFIC COPS REGULATE TRAFFIC & STOP THE CARNIDGE ON OUR ROADS. 9. CREATE A NEW LAW ABOUT THE ILLIGAL POSSESSION BY PERSONS & SCRAP YARDS OF COPPER. SEVERE PENALTIES. 10. MAKE IT ILLIGAL FOR ANY ONE TO PROCEED UNDERGROUND UNLESS HE IS AN EMPLOYEE OF THE SPECIFIC MINE. 11. URGENTLY RESTORE A REFURBISHED TOTALLY STANDALONE HOMELAND PROTECTION UNIT. BEEFED UP SCORPIONS. ZAMA ZAMAS ‼️ The grim discovery of five decomposed bodies near Krugersdorp and Kagiso, Gauteng, on December 15, has once again highlighted the perilous conditions faced by zama zamas, illegal miners operating in abandoned mines across South Africa. Police spokeswoman Brigadier Brenda Muridili confirmed the recovery of the bodies, believed to be those of zama zamas, from an old abandoned mine. The bodies were found at the intersection of the N14 and R28 highways after a member of the public noticed them while walking by. It appears they were brought to the surface and then dumped at the scene. Two inquest cases will be registered, one in Kagiso for two bodies and another in Krugersdorp for three bodies. This tragic discovery underscores the inherent dangers of illegal mining, driven by South Africa’s abundance of valuable minerals and numerous unrehabilitated mines. Crime expert Calvin Rafadi notes that many mines are left without rehabilitation, creating opportunities for zama zamas to take over⚠️ COMPLEX ISSUES: Illegal mining is a complex issue, fueled by: 1. *Poverty and Unemployment*: Many zama zamas are driven by desperation and lack of economic opportunities, with South Africa’s unemployment rate at 32.9% . 2. *Migration*: Zama zamas often come from neighboring countries, such as Lesotho, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe, bringing mining skills with them. 3. *Criminal Syndicates*: Organized crime groups exploit zama zamas, perpetuating violence and danger. Experts advocate for a multi-faceted approach to address illegal mining, including: 1. *Regulation and Legislation*: Strengthening laws and regulations to prevent exploitation. 2. *Economic Opportunities*: Creating legitimate jobs and economic growth to reduce poverty. 3. *Cooperation*: Collaboration between governments, communities, and stakeholders to address the root causes

Crude Palm Oil Prices Likely to Stay Elevated Amid Malaysia's Flooding Crude palm oil prices are expected to remain high in the near term due to Malaysia's ongoing flooding, TA Securities analyst Angeline Chin writes in a note. The country is facing its worst floods in a decade caused by the monsoon season, Chin says. From January to October, several states, including Johor, accounted for approximately 49% of Malaysia's total palm oil production, the analyst adds. Any supply disruption from flooding in these states would significantly impact CPO output, Chin notes. TA Securities maintains its neutral recommendation on Malaysia's plantation sector and its 2025 average CPO price estimate of MYR3,800/ton. (Dow Jones Newswires)

I've heard top-notch politicians subtly imply they will do nothing about the menace of illegal mining, also known as 'Galamsey,' because they lost parliamentary seats in past elections when they tried to fight it. I've also heard political analysts and experts discuss the "Galamsey economy" and the millions of dollars some state officeholders profit from this canker. One thing is clear: there is no true will from the government and most relevant stakeholders to stop illegal mining. Another truth is that one day, the cost of inaction will eventually outweigh any immediate profits from illegal mining. One day, the money generated from galamsey will not be enough to buy clean drinking water, nor will it restore the severely damaged environment. Ghana risks losing its vital natural resources, and the future generations will suffer the consequences of today's inaction. #StopGalamseyNow #IStandAgainstGalamsey

🌍 #SayNoToGalamsey 🌍 Illegal mining (galamsey) is destroying our land, rivers, and future. It's time to take a stand and protect the very resources that sustain us. 💧 Our water bodies are polluted, forests destroyed, and livelihoods endangered. Ghana depends on agriculture, clean water, and a healthy environment to thrive. If we don't put a stop to galamsey, we risk losing all of this for short-term gains. Let’s push for responsible mining, stronger enforcement, and sustainable solutions. Together, we can protect our environment for future generations. 🌱🇬🇭 #ProtectOurLand #SaveOurRivers #SustainableMining #GhanaForward #EnvironmentFirst
