For my older daughter's entire life, I've talked about "Huntley-Brinkley'ing" acquisition briefings, and I just found out last night that she had no idea what I meant. Funny how time rolls on, and new terminology pops up, and old terminology dies out and you don't realize it. Pop culture is like a private, unspoken language. I first started using the term when I was an intern and all the acquisition experts were older than I was and had been present for the Huntley-Brinkley news-team from 1956 to 1970. I knew who they were because I was in elementary school during their last episode, and watching the nightly news was a big deal in our house when I was a child, especially because my big brothers were draft-age and their friends weren't coming home from Vietnam. (Let me know if I need to explain the concern.) Those were the days of Walter Cronkite, Chet Huntley, and David Brinkley. Huntley and Brinkley were dual anchors, said goodnight to each other at the end of the show, and just ... CLASSY ... presenters. They were great role models for why I, ten years later, declared a journalism major, about a year before the beginning of 24-hours news and an opinion-based, advertising-based journalism model. For laughs, I'm linking their last episode, which shows their rival at CBS saying goodbye to the NBC team (the 2 big networks then, and 2 of maybe 3 channels you could get on your newfangled color TVs that weighed 500 pounds). So when you hear a boomer or older GenXer talking about Huntley-Brinkley'ing an acquisition briefing, they simply mean they're going to trade-off parts of the briefing with a PM, Contracting Officer, etc, in a very classy and informed way. #acquisition #contracting #procurement #genX #boomer #LornaTheHumanArchive #journalism https://lnkd.in/eB2ukXPH

It's the #1 Show on Netflix right now! I asked the cast of "The Umbrella Academy" my signature and original interviewing question, which is what would they say to their characters after embodying them on-screen over these four seasons, if only they could. Enjoy this fun taste and then check out their full responses in my new interview article here: https://lnkd.in/gd7Ff-Yz

In this clip from Episode 45 of The Greg and Tim Show, we dive into the ongoing debate about over-scheduling children during summer. We discuss whether packing kids' schedules with activities stifles creativity and leads to burnout. Drawing from personal experiences and research, we explore the potential negative impacts of overbooking, such as increased screen time, less nutritious food choices, and fewer opportunities for free play. Do kids today miss out on the creativity born from boredom, or are we just keeping them too busy?

If you're a parent whose children likes Mickey Mouse, read on. If you're a Disney fan as well, welcome! If you're one who appreciates inventions, read on. Our sales team meets every week to talk about... sales. However, before we do that we start talking business we talk about weekend updates. Today we were asked to share one high and one low. I didn't speak up this week but I wanted to share broadly with my network. The high: 'Mickey Mouse Funhouse' featured an episode centered entirely on Vardavar, which will feature the Armenian language. It was written by Kathleen Sarnelli Kapukchyan. According to the Armenian Film Society, she wrote the episode for her young son. This marks the first-ever representation of Armenian culture at Disney. The low: we had some rain and I couldn't hike like I wanted to. I'm still very much on a high about Disney featuring Armenian culture. As an Armenian American, we didn't have this growing up. In fact, when I was a kid and I was asked what my nationality was, it was hard to explain. I was born in the US to Armenian parents. There's a duality that's so hard to balance. I recall trying to explain that I'm an Armenian and hardly anyone I came in contact with knew what that was. I wasn't prepped back then to give answers like, "I'm Armenian like Luther George Simjian who invented the ATM" or "Hovahnnes Adamian who first introduced the idea of color television based on three colors and soon in 1908 got a German patent for it" or "Raymond Vahan Damadian with the machine he named 'Indomitable,' which made the world's first MRI scan on July 3, 1977." I'm so proud of what Armenians have contributed to modern society and what they will continue to do. The least I can do is reveal them to those who don't know. Anyway, if you want to catch the episode 'Vardavar' on Mickey Mouse Funhouse' you can catch it on AppleTV: https://lnkd.in/guGxCYFB #Armenians #Armenia #Armenian #mickeymouse #mickey #media #mediastrategy #advertising #culturalcelebration #culturematters #culturewins #culture #cultureofinnovation
