🏨 Why are Dallas & Atlanta ranked 1st & 2nd place among cities globally for hotel construction projects? 🏗 A recent post by Construction Dive references Dallas's & Atlanta's hotel construction success as a result of the growing economies in both locations. Increased business trips, shopping hot spots, and job opportunities within these locations has led to an increase in the demand for hotel facilities. Interestingly, during my conversations with contractors operating in these areas, another reason for this increased hotel construction has arisen. This being that both Dallas & Atlanta have been chosen as key locations for hosting matches during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. ⚽ With this colossal event bringing in 1000s of tourists, general contractors have taken on the responsibility of supporting these cities to cater for this upcoming increase in tourism. Ultimately, a city's economic growth can be seen from its skyline. However, this case also helps show the impact that major sporting events have on a cities infrastructure. In recent times I have spoken with many construction professionals who have shown a deep interest in contributing to the infrastructure of the upcoming World Cup. The question is, with the 2026 FIFA World Cup a couple of years away, where are you most excited to see games being played?

According to the Q3 2024 U.S. Hotel Construction Pipeline Trend Report from Lodging Econometrics (LE), the total U.S. pipeline stood at 6,211 projects/722,821 rooms, up 9 percent by projects and 7 percent by rooms year over year (YOY).
