Iracambi launches a fundraising campaign on the world's largest platform: Global Giving. Check out the message that George the sloth, our poster boy, has for you. Help us share this news with your network 🚀 --- I’m George. I live in the emba-uba tree by the dining hall at Iracambi, and I want to tell you that I am deeply worried. Something is seriously wrong with the planet and I’m going to need your help. Here’s why. Here, in my forest, we’ve recently had record-breaking heat. Drought. Wildfires. Heavy rain. The seasons are off balance, and I get the feeling the forest is in real danger. Do you have any idea how much the world depends on healthy forests? They supply clean water and pure air. Forests help regulate our climate and shelter biodiversity - think not just cute sloths, but genetic materials that humans use to produce food and medicines. And they give us all this for free. People need forests, and, right now, forests need people. So I’m asking for your help. Here at Iracambi my colleagues are planting thousands of trees to restore and protect my forest home. They’re introducing hundreds of schoolchildren and young people to rainforest science and raising a new generation of rainforest champions. And YOU can be a part of it. Join us on #GivingTuesday December 3rd on the #GlobalGiving platform to raise money to restore the rainforest and equip the environmental leaders of tomorrow. https://lnkd.in/dNf23msN Save the day, and I’ll see you there! Warm hugs from the forest, George and the Iracambi team PS I forgot something really important. All donations on Giving Tuesday receive bonus funding from GlobalGiving. More bang for your buck. How cool is that?

Event professionals - if you want to be on Santa's nice list, listen up! 🎅🏻👇 Event waste can surge during the festive season, with the UK generating 30% more waste during Christmas than at other times of the year. For event professionals, that means higher stakes—but also greater opportunities to implement sustainable practices that leave a lasting social and environmental legacy. Here’s how your events can embrace the circular economy this festive season and beyond: 🌟 Repurpose event materials: From leftover decor to branded items, there’s always a second life waiting for them. 🎄 Plan for reuse: Consider renting or borrowing furniture and tableware instead of buying new. 🎁 Donate surplus: Items like food and props can go to charities, community groups, or schools instead of the bin. At Event Cycle, we specialise in transforming event leftovers into meaningful contributions for communities while reducing environmental footprints. Over the past year alone, we repurposed thousands of items, preventing tonnes of waste and supporting hundreds of charities. 🌟

NYK Employee Volunteer Program Generates Nearly 2 Million Yen in Donations for Charities --36 Group Companies Participating, 694 Employees Contributing-- NYK has donated 1,910,540 yen to two charities, one supporting environmental conservation and another assisting developing countries. This amount was calculated using the "Yusen Volunteer Point" system, which allocates points to volunteer activities conducted by NYK Group employees and then converts those points to a monetary amount. Under this system, NYK Group employees receive points for their registered volunteer activities, and NYK then converts each point into two yen to be donated to a social action charity. The charities are selected based on a questionnaire completed by participants who have registered points. Once a year, awards are presented to participating companies and employees who have attained the most points, with the aim of promoting volunteer activities Groupwide. In fiscal 2023, 694 employees from 36 NYK Group companies participated in this activity. The growth in registration of volunteer activities encouraged by the Group companies resulted in a total of 955,270 points being registered, an increase of 89.7% over the previous year. We will continue proactively addressing social and environmental issues under the theme of "giving back to the ocean, the earth, and its people" and are accelerating our efforts to resolve these issues through various activities, including the Yusen Volunteer Point initiative. https://lnkd.in/gC2mzZXy

BEE THE CHANGE! 🐝 Bees are incredibly important to our ecosystem. They are responsible for pollinating a large portion of the world's crops, including fruits, vegetables, and nuts. Without bees, our food supply would be greatly diminished, leading to food shortages and higher prices. Unfortunately, bee populations have been declining in recent years due to factors such as pesticide exposure, loss of habitat, and disease. It is crucial that we take steps to protect bees and ensure their survival. 🤝Together with 8 visionary leaders: "Team The Hive", we are on a mission to protect and support the bee by creating a world record and collect 25.000 euros for the bee foundation. By taking action to protect bees, we are not only ensuring our own food supply but also preserving the delicate balance of our planet's ecosystems. Let's all do our part to protect these vital pollinators and ensure a healthy and thriving environment for future generations. Bees are essential to our world, and we must do everything we can to safeguard their future. Does the survival of the bee also touch your heart? ➡Share our campaign with your network, donate and come to the world record action in Utrecht, Thursday 18th at 11:00! Let us know in the comments that you are in, so we can keep you informed with details of the event! More information in the link below: https://gofund.me/85e24a14 Thanks a lot! SUPPORT A GREENER FUTURE THIS INTERNATIONDAL DAY OF CHARITY! Today I’m reflecting on the importance of giving back and supporting causes that make a positive impact on our world. At Indelible Bouquet we are committed to making a difference not just through our products, but through our actions. In honour of this day, we are excited to announce our new initiative aimed at supporting environmental charities. For every silk flower arrangement rented during the month of September, we will donate a portion of our proceeds to Bumblebee Conservation Trust, an organisation dedicated to preserving our planet and promoting sustainable practices. Here’s why this cause is close to our hearts: 1) Environmental Impact: Our planet faces significant environmental challenges, and every effort counts. By supporting Bumblebee Conservation Trust, we contribute to projects that aim to protect and restore natural habitats. 2) Sustainable Practices: We strongly believe in sustainability. Our silk flowers and artificial plants offer a green alternative to traditional florals, reducing water usage and eliminating the need for pesticides. 3) Community Involvement: Giving back strengthens our community and creates a ripple effect of positive change. We are proud to stand with organisations that share our vision for a healthier, more sustainable world. Let's all work towards a greener, more sustainable future. 🌿 Ever wondered what happens to leftover festival items? Our sustainability consultant Victoria G. shares how A Greener Future ensures unused supplies, like tarps and catering items, find a new purpose. From helping food banks to supporting local schools, such as Manorfield Primary in Tower Hamlets, these items are put to great use. 🔍 One example? Tarps from Uber One Presents All Points East are now helping kids with outdoor activities and gardening! Discover more about how festivals can leave a positive legacy in our latest article for A Good Thing 🌱 #UberOnePresentsAllPointsEast , AEG Presents UK, LS Events #Sustainability #FestivalWaste #AGreenerFuture
🥶 ❄️ Brrrr, it's certainly cold out there today! Here's a story to keep you warm and remind us of those long summer days... 💛 How festivals can help good causes. 🌞 🕺 😎 With festival season now officially over for the year, it’s as important as ever to make sure the breakdown of these massive gatherings happens as sustainably as possible. The not-for-profit A Greener Future (AGF) is a company that assesses live events and helps make them more sustainable and eco-friendly across their operations. Victoria G., one of AGF’s sustainability consultants, told us that they utilise every avenue available to find each redundant item a good home; this ranges from putting useful products outside the venues for the public to take to donating leftover catering items to food banks. Something she has found useful for their mission, however, is A Good Thing. 📗 With the massive amounts of items that need rehoming, A Good Thing has become a part of Victoria’s process. Keep reading: https://bit.ly/3YXEZt9 Thank you to our brilliant volunteer, Alisha Hampton, for reporting on this match! #festival #festivalseason #reducewaste #sendlesstolandfill #reducewaste #sharingeconomy #circulareconomy #charitydonation #smallcharity
