New Television City Have you ever dreamt of spinning the wheel on a game show or facing the lights and cameras as a contestant? Chances are, you've envisioned yourself at Television City, the iconic studio that has hosted nearly 100 game shows over its storied 70-year history. In 2018, the sale of the studio by CBS stirred concerns about the future of this historic site. Recognizing its cultural significance, the Los Angeles City Council swiftly moved to secure Landmark status, a testament to our collective commitment to preserving our entertainment heritage. Yet, as the industry evolves with CGI and digital production, the fate of traditional studio lots seemed uncertain. Enter Hackman Capital Partners, LLC, the new custodians of Television City, whose dedication to preserving the soul of Hollywood's golden era is matched by their vision for its future. Their collaboration with the architectural innovators at Foster + Partners is set to redefine what a studio can be in the 21st century, while staying true to the site's modernist roots. The redesigned facility will feature low-rise, open-plan spaces enclosed in floor-to-ceiling glass, embodying the ethos of transparency and creativity that has always been at the heart of Television City. Drawing inspiration from their groundbreaking all-electric JP Morgan headquarters, Foster + Partners is pioneering the first all-electric studio at Television City. This bold initiative will leverage onsite solar power and utilize low-carbon, efficient materials, setting a new standard for sustainable studio design. While the departure of "The Price is Right" in 2023 marked the end of an era, the reinvention of Television City heralds a new chapter. This isn't just about preserving a location; it's about embracing innovation and sustainability, ensuring that this legendary space remains at the forefront of entertainment production for generations to come. Stay tuned. The best of Television City is yet to come. https://loom.ly/4J81fiY #architecture #television #construction

While Dr. Mintzberg offers valuable insights on user experience and emergent structures, the "Design Doing" approach might have some limitations: 1- Over-planning can be detrimental, some initial strategic planning can still be beneficial. 2- Over-reliance on learning by doing without any guiding principles could lead to confusion and inefficiency. A balance between experimentation and structure might be needed. 3- Emergent structures might work well for smaller organizations, but scaling them to manage large, complex operations could be challenging. 4- A purely emergent approach may be too slow for organizations needing rapid responses to dynamic market changes. I believe, there will be a need to consider both the social aspects (people and interactions) and technical aspects (tools and technology) when designing an organization. Additionally, there should be an emphasize on creating a work environment that leverages employee skills and knowledge to achieve high performance.
There are organization designers who know what they don’t know, and so allow the people to walk the park, so to speak. As the walkers keep walking, the pathways keep changing. https://lnkd.in/ejFV3s4j

Last month, we partnered with Wiencek + Associates Architects + Planners, Inc. for CANstruction at the National Building Museum. This friendly competition brings together the AEC industry while providing thousands of meals for hungry families. With the theme being "Construction Tools and Equipment," our team constructed a 7-foot tall model of Barbie using a jackhammer. The design used 2,067 canned goods, helping contribute to the fight to end hunger. Bravo, team! #canstruction #fightinghunger #buildingthedmv

STX Project kick-off | Media Production Studio We are delighted to share that Struxture is partnering with University of Melbourne on the Media Production Studio at the Parkville campus. We'll help the university deliver brand new spaces for students studying related courses to take their learning to the next level. Our team will carry out removal works of the existing tiered concrete teaching space to bring it back to the shell with the disconnection and removal of existing services. We'll install new structural steel support, concrete, and blockwork and then commence with the fit-out of the AV equipment for the TV media production studios, smaller TV studio and main audio studio with the accompanying control rooms plus multimedia studios. We look forward to seeing how this project progresses! 🏗️ STX team Matt Banek & Joshua Bellissimo 📷 ClarkeHopkinsClarke Architects #Struxture #Builtdifferent

What a great project and outcome. Signs matter.
Behold! The inaugural lighting ceremony of the “Signs of Our Times Historic Neon Gallery” around the corner from our building. The neighborhood just keeps getting cooler and cooler. Congrats to Amy Fimbel, Jennifer Stevens and their teams at Capital City Development Corporation and the City of Boise Department of Arts and History for pulling this off. Oh, and to the amazing craftsmen who restored and brought these signs back to life: Rocket Neon, Classic Design Studio and YESCO. Thank you all for this amazing addition to our city. #inspiration #signage #boise
