Armchair pundits after England's game against Denmark: "Southgate should have more courage! Be braver! Be bold! You can't win by being cautious!" Armchair viewers of Sunak's recent and frequent claims of taking "bold actions": "We don't care about bold! We want different!" Opinions are always easier when you're not responsible. That said, boldness IS necessary if you want the greatest results. THAT said, boldness isn't the point, it's the results from the boldness that matters. Results without boldness - we'll take it. Boldness with results - sweet spot. Boldness without results - risk of self-delusion. Be bold. But if you're still not getting results ... Be bold and change.

I wanted to share with you my family experiences of the race riots. My children were watching the Olympics, they are mixed heritage and were being inspired by the wonderful athletes when the news came on and they watched a little bit. They took time to process, they are all under 10. Today they asked questions as we drove in our car. They asked me if anyone was going to stop us and pull them out of the car because they are brown and beat them up. They were worried. I explained it to them in an age-appropriate way, not shying away from the complexity, not shying away from a discussion on racism. I also asked them to do what they can control and made them feel in control of the situation. Coaching them with things to say if someone is unkind. Letting them know that I would protect them and stand up for them and that I would keep them safe. If you work in education, please plan for the beginning of term for supportive pastoral care, ask experts to support your children in school - experts who have lived experience, who have a deep experience of racism and how to feel empowered. Because children are scared, plan your pastoral sessions for age-appropriate discussions which explicitly support belonging and safety. There are charities who have prepared resources, use them. If you are in a school that isn't multi-cultural and you think it doesn't apply to your setting. It does. Address the reality of racism in society. Please don't shy away from difficult conversations, because they are needed. Please help children understand what is happening in a child-friendly way and support them to move forward to move towards a better society, because it is needed now more than ever. #Education
Some thoughts on the race riots in Britain. Stay grounded, stay in your power. We come from a powerful lineage of survivors. They are NOT more powerful than you.

American Education Has Become “Comfortably Numb” (and Dumb) I believe that Team Trump with a definitive mandate from the people in the electoral college, popular vote, Senate and House have a perfect opportunity to fix and reform American education. Step one eliminate the useless Department of Education and send back to the states to handle on a local level. Secondly, we need to clean up our colleges and universities from the reindocrination camps they have become especially the elite Poison Ivys. I propose that the American Higher Education Reform Act be passed. This Act would prohibit any donations or contributions to endowments or libraries etc from any foreign country deemed hostile to the US or associated with terror organizations. Also if Colleges and Universities are found to promote hate speech and not equally protect all their students their tax favored status regarding their endowments would be revoked. In addition, any federal and state loans or grants would be suspended until the situation is remedied. Third, follow the lead of Texas Governor Greg Abbott , who championed school choice this election cycle. The worm is finally turning! Pertinent Lyric: “The child is grown, The dream is gone. I have become comfortably numb.” (Waters/Gilmour)

Seven years ago today, white supremacist and Neo Nazi groups from around the country were so thrilled by the election of President Donald Trump and the surge in white nationalist ideology that fueled his rise, that they decided to get together to march menacingly with KKK-inspired torches while chanting Trump’s name triumphantly alongside other vile, antisemitic chants. One unexpected horror from that deadly day was watching friends-of-friends in my network react to this celebration of hate by posting about how much they agreed with the white supremacists that the defenders of slavery were heroes, and also how much they hated liberals. What would compel someone, in the face of obvious evil and a murderous rampage, to publicly stand against the near universal condemnation of these bigots? Most anti-racist activists reasonably concluded that only bigotry could compel these individuals to do that. But that’s not the whole picture. I think the reasoning of these individuals was quite simple. These individuals were loyal Republican Party supporters, and they correctly saw this event as something that would certainly sway people away from supporting Trump or the Republican Party. So, naturally, they had to react in two ways: first, by being extra committed to not letting this horrific day change their own partisan beliefs and preferences, and second, by signaling to other partisans that they can all get through this challenging time by wallowing in their favorite partisan grievances about liberals and culture wars until they willfully forget that any of these upsetting things ever happened. When successful, this approach allows anyone to easily continue their uncritical, blind loyalty to a politician who would otherwise disgust them.

Exciting insights from the world of tennis and family life! In a light-hearted update, Maria Sharapova's fiancé, Alexander Gilkes, shares his humorous skepticism regarding the longevity of a new record player amid their lively 2-year-old son, Theodore. This charming story not only highlights the joys of parenting but also integrates a touch of nostalgia with the introduction of vinyl into their home. Plan B: Outsourcing It to the Canucks If all else fails, look no further than beyond the borders of the United States for expert workmanship. Our neighbors to the north know wood—and with a name like Podium Pros, you can’t go wrong. This company’s Empire Lectern would translate handily stateside, particularly with a stain chart that allows you your pick of the brown-shade spectrum. Whether your poison is rosewood, pecan, regency mahogany, or gunstock walnut, you’re sure to find a stable option faster than you can say “hang a Larry at the Tim Horton’s half a click up the line, eh?” And forging cross-cultural democratic ties is so important in this day and age. Just to check: Canada has no extradition treaty with the U.S., right? Right? https://lnkd.in/dpjuyiRz
