If you have constant pharmacist turnover, the pharmacist are not the problem. What are the chances that all 50 pharmacists your district went through in two years were all bad???? The moment corporate wakes up and realizes it’s an upper management issue and an unrealistic time and metric issue. If you’re not a licensed pharmacist in the state in question under no circumstances should you have the audacity nor do you have the legal authority to intervene with the Pharmacist in Charge. PICs are legally responsible for the entire pharmacy yet they get no authority in reality in corporate chains. PICs should be able to hire staff pharmacists for their store, and no one should be permitted behind that counter without first informing the PIC out of respect. 🫡

If I could change 5 things about retail pharmacy right now I'd: 1. Make it a requirement that there were 2 pharmacists on duty at all times. 2. Require that all phone calls went through a call center with licensed techs and pharmacists with access to patient data for all questions. 3. A clerk or technician assigned to each register and the drive thru. 4. Tech/clerk hours be a set, reasonable amount. No changes according to seasons. 5. Assign staff to stores near where they live. These changes would lift such a burden from pharmacy staff. And floater pharmacists are the best! The pharmacy scheduler has a TOUGH job as well, trying to get all shifts covered. But the scheduler also needs empathy for the person calling out. We pharmacists are professionals. We don't call out unless there is a legitimate reason. But we do need to take care of ourselves as well so we can take better care of others. What other changes would you like to see in retail pharmacy? Oh, and maybe a BIGGER sign for the restrooms?

𝐏𝐎𝐕: 𝐘𝐨𝐮'𝐯𝐞 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐏𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐲 👨🔬 The Pharmacy does 14,000 items, how would you staff it effectively to handle this workload? 🤔 We all know how important it is to have a 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐝, 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐮𝐧 Pharmacy, so many places don't get this part right. (I won't name names) Personally, I would be looking at 1 Pharmacist Manager, 1 ACT, 1 Technician, 3 Dispensers & 1 Counter Assistant. But then again, I'm just a Recruiter, I wouldn't know the first thing about how to run a Pharmacy, would I? 🤐 That being said, one thing I do know is that 𝐚 𝐩𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐮𝐧 𝐩𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞. It is the first step towards a profitable business, and should be a 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 for all pharmacy owners. 🚨

Benefits of being a relief pharmacist: -You get to choose when to work, where to work. -You make a LOT of money (average pay is higher than even pharmacy managers) -You are greeted with open arms, and staff members will do everything they can to help you since they know you are new there. -When using apps, getting pay is extremely easy. Drawbacks of being a relief pharmacist: -LONG distances; some relief stores require you to commute for up to two hours. -Job isn't secure; you're only as successful as the availability of relief shifts. -Lack of growth; you will not be promoted to manager or store owner. -Unpredictable work conditions may take getting used to.

"Beyond the Counter: The Responsibility and Compassion in Pharmacy Work" Working in a pharmacy has significantly changed my perspective on what a job truly means. It's not just about earning money, but about helping people get better. As healthcare workers, we bear a significant responsibility to contribute to the health and well-being of our society in every way we can. The role of a pharmacy assistant comes with immense responsibility; one small error can have serious consequences. While making a mistake may not directly affect the person who made it, the impact can be felt by both the patient and the pharmacist on duty, even if the pharmacist isn't at fault. This is where attention to detail becomes crucial. We must focus on every aspect of our work, knowing that it's not just another job—it's someone’s health and, in some cases, someone’s life on the line. While you don't necessarily need extensive healthcare experience to start as a pharmacy assistant, once you're in the role, it’s essential to develop empathy for the people we serve and recognize the nobility in this profession, beyond just a paycheck. #pharmacylife #pharmacyassisstant #healthcare

There were about 331,700 pharmacists working in the U.S. as of May 2023 according to data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Pharmacists work in varied settings, including health and personal care stores, hospitals, food and general merchandise stores with pharmacy services, and other businesses involved in the distribution of pharmacy products and services.
