If you have constant pharmacist turnover, the pharmacist are not the problem. What are the chances that all 50 pharmacists your district went through in two years were all bad???? The moment corporate wakes up and realizes it’s an upper management issue and an unrealistic time and metric issue. If you’re not a licensed pharmacist in the state in question under no circumstances should you have the audacity nor do you have the legal authority to intervene with the Pharmacist in Charge. PICs are legally responsible for the entire pharmacy yet they get no authority in reality in corporate chains. PICs should be able to hire staff pharmacists for their store, and no one should be permitted behind that counter without first informing the PIC out of respect. 🫡

Pharmacist Pay in the Southwestern U.S.: It's a moderately WEAK one in terms of pharmacist pay. Arizona and Texas pharmacists, which account for about 85% of employed pharmacists in the region, earned annual mean wages that were approximately on par with the national average for the profession. However, New Mexico and Oklahoma were among the eleven lowest-ranked states for that pharmacist pay metric. May 2022 data released by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) detailed that there were over 325,400 pharmacists employed in the United States. Nearly 37,000 of those employed as pharmacists in the U.S. worked in the four-state Southwestern region. 🌟After a long 3 month break since qualifying as a pharmacist, Ive finally completed my first few shifts as a locum pharmacist (in both community and hospital) and here’s just some things I’ve learnt about navigating the pharmacy world/locumming as a newly qualified: 😖• The anxiety is real. A big reason why I took so much time off is simply because I wasn’t sure if I was ready and was extremely anxious to finally work as a pharmacist but it sounded much scarier in my head! Ofcourse as a newly qualified, you’re extra vigilant and anxious but this soon gets better with practice ❤️• It’s okay to feel lost and drained after pre reg. I wanted a permanent role but it was proving to be more difficult than I imagined, especially in London. I found so many of my friends were in the same position as me where we weren’t too sure what to do next which leads onto my next point ✍🏽 • Now’s your time to explore and find where you want to work, you won’t know until you try! I’m someone who said I will never locum yet here I am🫣 I don’t plan on locumming forever but it’s nice picking when you want to work especially if you want to take it easy at first and build confidence! 👥• I’ve realised locumming gives you so many networking opportunities and access to potential roles that may not be officially advertised online. It’s up to you to always work to your best abilities and advertise your potential because you never know which opportunities you’ll attract 🧠• You know more than you think! All your knowledge comes rushing back when you need it, I’m starting to sound like my pre reg supervisor! #pharmacist #pharmacy #reflections
