Reflecting on our dynamic insights session… We brought brands and industry colleagues together at Outernet London to explore the risks of underestimating the power of live experiences in maintaining a brand’s cultural relevance. As some of you eagle-eyed folks may have noticed, earlier this year, I made the move to an in-house recruitment role with the outstandingly awesome team at Jones Knowles Ritchie (JKR). Those who’ve worked with me know how passionate I am about DE&I and creating opportunities for everyone. Yesterday, we took a moment to step away from the fast-paced studio life to dive deep into these values during an all-agency DE&I conference. Our focus? How to be Cultural Explorers with a growth mindset—both in our work and as we navigate the world. We kicked things off with an inspiring keynote from Gerard Crichlow who shared insights on Cultural Intelligence: The New Frontier of Brand Innovation in the Post-Social Media Era. His perspective on how brands can adapt and evolve in this changing landscape really hit home. Then we split into groups (in person and online) for workshops, where we got to reflect on how we approach cultural immersion—whether it’s in the work we do for our clients or in our own lives. It was eye-opening to explore the ways we can bring even more inclusivity and curiosity into our creative processes. The day wrapped up with a brilliant panel discussion with Fouad Hammoud ACD at AKQA and our very own CD Christopher Sharpe, delving into why cultural intelligence is such a crucial ingredient for the creative industry today.
