There was lots for us here at Rosebank to celebrate at last night’s fabulous ‘World Whisky Awards 2025’, hosted at the beautiful and historic Signet Library in the heart of Edinburgh. Our very own Rosebank 32 year old single malt Scotch whisky was awarded with a category win in the 21 years+ Lowland Scotch whisky category. This is a wonderful accolade to the quality of the whisky that Ian Macleod Distillers Ltd produced. Congratulations to all nominees and winners across all of the awards (https://lnkd.in/eXXk2HMy). An evening of absolute joy and celebration for everyone involved! #Rosebank #RosebankDistillery #IanMacleodDistillers #IanMacleod #IMD #CraftingSpiritsWithPassion #InGoodCompany #WorldWhiskiesAwardsScotland #WhiskyMagazineHallofFame

Liquid gold! May is world Whisky Month with World Whisky Day celebrated the third Saturday in May. The market for 'liquid sunshine' is enjoying a surge in popularity, and whilst investing in whisky is more than just a spot of extra-curricular fun for certain ultra-wealthy celebs, it's worth noting that the malt whisky market is expected to hit a value of £5.5bn by 2031, up from £3.6bn a decade before that*. Find out why Attivo client Tony Walker views his investment in whisky as a 'portfolio asset' in our article Attivo Life Magazine article below, and lots more about this fascinating spirit. https://buff.ly/4avXKrB *Source: Allied Market Research Glenfiddich Diageo Johnnie Walker The Macallan LIMITED Whisky Investments of this nature are not regulated by the FCA and may have no protection under FSCS. #scotch #whiskey #whisky #foodanddrink #financialplanning #lifestylefinancialplanning #Attivo

A 'Scottish Oak Programme'. Great news. More Scotch Whisky Casks, for the future. As an aside, how many Scotch Whisky Casks, in total, are already resting, in Scotland? What do you reckon? Even the 'Scottish Business Leaders' I ask are always MILES out! The 'official' Scotch Whisky Association figure is 'about 20,000,000'. Twenty Million. I've been told, by very senior Scotch Whisky Figures, who know about this sort of thing, it's 'about 45,000,000'. Others, high up in the 'Whisky Industry' suggest even more than this, 65,000,000. That's Sixty Five Million. Whatever the true amount, the 'American Standard Barrel' makes up the lion's share of this. Each one holds 271-314 bottles (that pesky Angel's Share 'alcohol evaporation' and age causes the alarming discrepancy!). But, if it's a 'Butt', you can expect 670-700 bottles, from just one Cask. A few Distilleries use 'Port Pipes', which are even bigger! Hmm... Port Pipe Scotch Whisky, yum! There's lots of different Casks, Puncheons, Barriques, Quarter Casks, Port Pipes, och, loads. Suffice to say, the average Scot just doesn't have a clue about the true amount. Only one rule, it has to be Oak. Old, new, French, Scottish, American, second/third hand, it doesn't matter. This further complicates things. Convenient, or inconvenient, depends if you're buying, or selling! As they're not told anything NEAR the truth, you can't really blame the average Scot for being totally clueless here! Anyway, who cares? It surely can't be that important? Well, in Scotland, we've 'got form' in undervaluing our natural resources so, now we have one, that's GETTING MORE PLENTIFUL and ISN'T running out, it IS important. Also, as you've probably read, a 25/30/40 year old Cask of Scotch is worth 'rather a lot'. Scotland has quite a few of these. We mentioned that pesky 'Angel's Share' so science tells us, older Casks contain less Scotch Whisky and 'certain Distilleries' can flog them, at an enormous premium. Add this to the algorithm. Soon, a 21st-Century Cask will be 25 years old. Do you know how much a 25 year old bottle of Scotch Whisky is? A bottle of Glenfarclas is about... £200. A bottle of The Macallan is about...£2000! It's complicated but probably explains why a nice Cask of The Macallan is a million quid now and they have the best booze 'Visitor Centre' on the Planet. Anyone good at 'sums'? #ScotchWhiskyTruths

Geographical Indications Certain whiskies have geographical indications, meaning they must be produced in specific regions to be labeled as such. For example, Scotch whisky must be made in Scotland, and Irish whiskey must be made in Ireland. #BourbonCocktails #SmallBatchBourbon #BourbonSociety #BourbonCountry #BourbonGram #WhiskeyTime #BourbonTrail #StraightBourbon #BourbonNation #DrinkBourbon #BourbonOfTheDay

KWV Shines at the “Olympics” of Spirits KWV Brandy just scored big at the International Spirits Challenge (ISC) 2024, often called the “Olympics” of the spirits industry. As the only South African producer to bring home three prestigious Double Gold medals in the Brandy category, KWV continues to set the global standard for excellence and potentially claim the title of Best Brandy and Cognac Producer for the sixth time. Since 1926, KWV has been perfecting the art of brandy-making, and this year’s haul—three Double Golds and three Golds—proves that its legacy of quality is stronger than ever. “KWV remains one of the leading brandy brands in Africa,” says CEO John Loomes. “Our superior quality, demonstrated by outperforming traditional Cognac brands at global competitions, reinforces our commitment to expanding our presence in this dynamic market.” KWV’s latest success isn’t just a win for the brand but a testament to the growing significance of South African brandy in the global market. #KWV #KWVBrandy #SpiritsChallenge #GlobalExcellence #BrandyLeadership

If you find yourself feeling peckish in Shoreditch, can I recommend Bibo. The hype promises “expectation-obliterating tapas” not to mention three-Michelin starred chef Dani García. But I know that it’s the “cocktails that boggle the senses” that will lure you in, with FAIR.’s new Chipotle Liqueur and Oaxaca Whiskey ramping up the Mexican inspiration. We know that consumers are caring more and more about brand ethics when it comes to the planet and people. There aren’t many brands going to the lengths that FAIR do to create products that are not only delicious but also doing a lot of good in the world. This latest listing with Bibo will get FAIR's marvellous liquids on more lips and showcase how agile the range is to movers and shakers of the on-trade. Can’t say fairer than that! Alongside the expansion of the FAIR. range, 2024 has been punctuated by numerous successes for the brand, with most recently both their Elderflower and Chipotle Liqueurs earning silver medals at The Spirits Business Liqueur & Speciality Spirits Masters 2024. 🥈🥈 The range has long been a firm favourite of bartenders and the on-trade, and these accolades are a testament to the quality and reputation FAIR. continues to build in the industry. 🥳 Paul Bungener Alexandre Koiransky Alberto Spolverato Nicola Carruthers https://lnkd.in/ehEhwYee #mangrovedrinks
