TomTom I have to share my thoughts and an unexpected unpleasant experience that I had during the ongoing process with your company. Firstly, I was honored and thrilled that your company directly contacted me for a technical leadership role in Belgrade in the automotive sector, and I replied in a positive way. Since, if my understanding is correct, this company has a good reputation and I think it needs to care about publicity very much and be transparent, I am writing to you in this way since I do admire what you have built and strive to share innovative products with your customers. I would really like to know what the company culture is regarding the approach to potential new candidates and what culture you foster in this particular case. I would also like to point out that in this specific case, I did not apply for any current open positions nor send a CV, but yet had a direct call from Amsterdam about my potential engagement as a Lead Android Kotlin Software Engineer role in Serbia. So, in this case, the company approached me directly, not the other way around. And I clearly shared that I am not in any rush since I do have my commitment and professional obligations to my current client and company role, and I do think this is right approach for any next professional challenge and role.
Christopher Schenkel Since I sent you an official email with a concrete question 48 hours ago without any replies, I would appreciate a professional response. Firstly, you called me directly from Amsterdam about the potential role, and we had a discussion. Then, you called me at the last minute to schedule a second round in less than 24 hours. After I proposed holding the meeting on Monday, you scheduled it for Wednesday without any consultation. Last but not least, you canceled the meeting 24 hours before it was set to occur, without any explanation or reason. I would like to know if this is typical of your company culture or if this was specific to this case. I wonder what I should expect if there were a hypothetical agreement for the role, given this approach before any official start. To be clear, I am aware that my expertise and contribution align with this role, but I also understand that someone else's opinion from the company does not necessarily mean I am right. Any feedback in this case would be appreciated; there could be multiple reasons for this situation, right? Perhaps there is a better match from the company's perspective, or even more relevant expertise. However, I am not comfortable with receiving no feedback and having the second round of meetings canceled without any explanation.
TomTom I would appreciate it if somebody would contact me from the company. I had a few direct calls from your HR department at their initiative, so they already have my number. If this is the general approach the company takes in treating high-profile candidates, not just special treatment in my case, then it is clear about its business and professional code.
