My morning routine consists of an extra strong long black and a skim through industry insights and local happenings. Today those insights were dominated with headlines such as "billion-dollar firm AG1 shifts production to US" "Alliance shutting Timaru meatworks" "Hundreds of jobs at risk at Tokoroa Klinleith Mill". This on top of Seek's third consecutive month of declining job postings creates worry for Kiwis seeking employment. Each of these shifts represent not just economic shifts but the hundreds of Kiwis facing uncertainty. To the jobseekers: Keep positive, keep curious, and keep searching —every step brings you closer to your next opportunity. Kia Kaha. To my fellow founders: Let’s focus on building assets, resources, and opportunities that uplift Kiwis. 🌊✨ 𝐁𝐨𝐢𝐭𝐚 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐚: A Celebration of Heritage, Leadership, and Community! 🌅 Today (15 Nov 2024) marks Boita Bandana, a beautiful and culturally significant festival celebrated in Odisha and among Odia communities worldwide. As tiny boats set sail across water bodies, they carry with them not just the spirit of the ancient Kalinga mariners but also lessons for us as leaders and professionals. 🌊 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞: Boita Bandana commemorates the maritime glory of the ancient Kalinga empire, whose sailors ventured far and wide, fostering trade, cultural exchange, and collaboration with Southeast Asia. The festival symbolizes courage, vision, and a commitment to building bridges across borders. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝? Families gather to float miniature boats (boitas), often made of banana stems or paper, decorated with lamps, flowers, and betel leaves, to honor this legacy. The festival is marked by early morning rituals by water bodies. Floating decorative boats, often accompanied by joyous singing of “Aa ka ma boi.” ✨ 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝟏. 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠: The Kalinga mariners dared to dream beyond horizons. Great leaders, too, chart new territories with a vision that inspires others to follow. 𝟐. 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: The sailors thrived on partnerships and cross-cultural connections—an essential skill in today’s globalized world. 𝟑. 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞: Facing uncharted waters and storms, they remind us that perseverance in the face of challenges defines true leadership. 𝟒. 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Building sturdy boats for long voyages reflects the importance of preparation and innovation—essential traits in achieving long-term goals. 🌍 Modern Relevance: As we celebrate Boita Bandana, let’s reflect on how ancient values of exploration, collaboration, and determination can guide us in our professional and personal lives. Just as those sailors set sail with hope and courage, we too can navigate our challenges with confidence. 🌊 What leadership lesson resonates with you the most from this festival? Title: A Journey Down Memory Lane: From Ernakulam to Kozhikode As I traveled from Ernakulam North to Kozhikode, the train journey became more than just a commute—it transformed into a vivid journey through my past, filled with nostalgia and reflections on how places and experiences shape our professional and personal identities. The first major stop, Thrissur Junction, was bustling with energy, reminding me of the importance of staying connected and engaging with new ideas, much like we do in our professional networks. As the train continued through Valluvanad and Kuttipuram, my childhood towns, I was reminded of my foundational years—times that shaped my values and work ethic. Passing by my old school in Tirur, where I spent years learning not just academics but life skills, reinforced my belief in continuous learning and growth. Observing Kadalundi, where the backwaters meet the sea, I was reminded of the convergence of different skills and disciplines in creating successful outcomes, much like in collaborative projects. Finally, as the train rolled into Kozhikode and we made our customary stop for local delicacies and a meal at Sagar, it struck me how important it is to appreciate and incorporate local expertise and traditional wisdom into our broader ventures. This train ride was more than a geographical journey—it was a trip through the landscapes of my development, both personal and professional. It reinforced how our roots and routes contribute to our overarching narrative, a valuable reflection for all professionals. Whether it’s through embracing our background or leveraging diverse experiences, there’s much to learn from the paths we've traveled. #Reflections #Journey #ProfessionalGrowth #Nostalgia #Kerala

Tihar vibes and Rangoli at Oli and Associates Butwal. Traditionally, Rangoli is an art of decoration drawn on the floor or the entrances of homes/ offices. It is thought to bring good luck and prosperity in the house warding off any evils. Besides working on a rangoli together enhances teamwork by promoting collaboration, creativity, and communication. It involves brainstorming designs, assigning roles, and working together, encouraging open dialogue among team members. The hands-on nature of rangoli fosters unity, as participants contribute their unique skills to a shared goal. As individuals come together to create something visually striking, they strengthen their bonds and cultivate a sense of belonging. Ultimately, making rangoli not only results in a beautiful creation but also fosters mutual respect and teamwork within the group. #tihar #rangoli #teamwork #diwali #culture #oliandassociates

🌊 Challenges Make Us Stronger 🚢 They say a smooth sea never made a skillful sailor, and this couldn’t be more true for my journey in training, leadership, and business. One of my first jobs was with YTL Communication, where I was assigned as the account manager for USM. I was stationed there alone for 6 months under the Education Partner Program. My main tasks were to manage the sales kiosk and build a strong relationship with the Student Affairs Department for future collaborations. I had a choice: either give up or face the challenges head-on. It wasn’t easy, but I focused on improving communication and understanding, which helped turn the situation around. Little did I know, this was just the beginning of a bigger journey. This experience prepared me to take on the biggest sales account at that time—UiTM, which included campuses at Shah Alam, Puncak Alam, PJ, and Puncak Perdana. Today, everything we teach at FDD Solutions comes from facing real-world challenges like these. Just like a sailor learns best in rough seas, each challenge has helped me grow stronger and more resilient. So, if you’re going through tough times, remember: An easy road never leads to a beautiful destination. Keep going, and trust that every challenge is helping you grow. ✨ Happy Diwali to all celebrating! May this festival of lights bring you joy, prosperity, and the strength to sail through any storm. ✨ 👉 Don’t forget to like, comment, and share if you found this post helpful! Let’s inspire others to aim for greatness! 🌟🔥 #Leadership #SalesSuccess #Resilience #KeepGrowing #TheSkilledCraftsman
