This week we are attending the #WODCEurope congress in Barcelona.  Whilst a lot of attention has been given to the roll-out of JCA for oncology and ATMPs from January 2025, we should keep in mind that in January 2028 all new rare disease medicines and technologies will also go through the JCA process.  So, why think about JCA for rare diseases now, when it is more than 3 years away?   Our answer is that preparation is everything! Although the dossier will not be submitted until 2028, there is a great opportunity now to undertake a PICO prediction exercise to shape your pivotal evidence package through incorporation of insights into your trial design. This coupled with evidence gap analysis and careful consideration of integrated evidence planning could make all the difference. Holoclara wriggles roundworm-derived molecule into phase 1, burrowing into eosinophilic esophagitis 🩺🪱 Worm-inspired biotech Holoclara has had a busy year. After announcing a $16 million series A round in June, the Pasadena, California, company has now dosed the first patient in a phase 1 trial of its primary asset and planted a flag on its lead indication, the immune disease eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE).
