We hear a lot about employee burnout. In a recent SHRM article, a reported 57% of employees are experiencing at least moderate burnout. However, did you know that 98% of HR professionals are burned out? As HR professionals, we recognize employee burnout by implementing initiatives to combat the problem. But how often do we recognize and practice our own self-care? I read somewhere once that as HR people we need to put on our own oxygen mask before we can help others. Is there something you do for your own self-care? One great thing I do for myself is to connect with fellow HR people and use them as a support group! There are a lot of challenges out there in the HR world and there is always someone in my circle who has either experienced the same thing or a great tip to share! Our local SHRM chapter - NAHRA - meets every third Thursday of the month and has some very knowledgeable and compassionate members!
