It’s funny how kids can ask the simplest questions that get you thinking deeply about life (and priorities!). My initial thought was to say "green lights"—who doesn’t love a smooth, uninterrupted journey? But then I realized, maybe it's all about the destination. Maybe finding that parking spot, even if it takes a little extra time, is what brings the real satisfaction. In work, just like in life, we often want to breeze through obstacles. But sometimes, it’s about slowing down, finding the right opportunities, and embracing the journey. I recently took my family for a bike ride along East Coast Park, and it was such a nice way to unwind. While we were enjoying the evening, I noticed something interesting about the lights along the path. On one side, the lights came on exactly at 7:00 PM, while on the other side, they turned on a bit earlier at 6:57 PM. This is a common issue with older, timer-based lighting systems where the timing can be off by a few minutes. It reminded me of how far lighting technology has come. We started with basic lights, then moved to LEDs, which made a huge difference by saving energy and cutting costs. Now, we’re moving beyond LED to something even smarter—lights that respond to their surroundings. These smart lights adjust brightness based on the light around them and any movement nearby. If it’s a busy evening, the lights can stay bright, but they dim when things are quieter, saving even more energy without affecting safety. This kind of technology not only helps save on energy bills, but it’s also much better for the environment. Being involved in this field is incredibly rewarding, especially when I see these improvements making a real difference in our everyday spaces.
