Uncovering the 20 CX Blindspots That Threaten Business Growth In today's experience economy, delivering exceptional customer experiences (CX) is critical for driving growth and maintaining a competitive edge. However, new research from Stellar Elements reveals that many businesses are struggling with significant gaps between the experiences they think they provide and what customers actually perceive. The research report, based on a survey of over 2,500 business leaders and consumers globally across 10 major industries, unveils 20 major CX blindspots that organizations must address. The findings expose a stark perception divide - 81% of business leaders believe they meet customer expectations, but only 20% of consumers agree. This disconnect points to hidden layers of experience gaps that undermine CX efforts. The top five blindspots identified across industries are: 1. The Service Gap - Failing to deliver the high-quality service customers expect due to staffing issues, disconnected touchpoints, lack of training, and more. 2. The CX Perception Gap - A misalignment between how a company perceives its customer experience versus how customers actually view it. 3. The AI Readiness Gap - Uncertainties around adopting AI technologies stemming from resource constraints and expertise gaps. 4. The Integration Gap - Inability to provide seamless, integrated experiences across channels/touchpoints due to disconnected systems from rapid business growth. 5. The Communication Gap - Unclear, inconsistent messaging and engagement with customers often caused by talent deficiencies. While 91% of leaders acknowledge CX's critical role in revenue generation, a mere 44% consider investing in CX improvements extremely important - signaling a dangerous underestimation of the scope and impact of these blindspots. The various CX gaps are deeply interconnected. For example, the Service Gap links to consistency, personalization, and feedback blindspots. The AI Readiness Gap spans innovation, automation, and human-tech balance issues. Addressing these tangled roots requires a holistic, customer-centric mindset shift across the entire organization, not just in customer-facing roles. As one leader stated, "A gap is just another word for an opportunity – to align mindsets, improve technology, and drive continuous revenue growth."
