This holiday season, all three of our offices—Hallowell, South Portland, and Bangor—once again came together to support the Toys for Tots campaign! 🎄 Through the generosity of our employees, we’ve helped bring smiles to children in our local communities by ensuring they have gifts to open during the holidays. It’s heartwarming to see our team’s commitment to making a difference. Thank you to everyone who contributed and made this initiative a success! Together, we’re spreading joy and holiday cheer.

#HappeningNow ➡️ Maximizing Impact: Texas Lottery Commission & Dallas Cowboys Partnership with Steve Helm, Media Relations Director, Texas Lottery. While the Texas Lottery’s Dallas Cowboys-themed scratch ticket games have generated nearly $100 million for public education since 2009, the agency has maximized its partnership with the Cowboys to support its mission despite having no advertising budget to promote its beneficiaries. By serving as an in-kind sponsor for various initiatives such as youth camps, grant programs, and health and wellness events, the Texas Lottery enhances community engagement and educational support, creating a positive impression of the agency. The presentation will also highlight similar strategies with other partners, demonstrating how these collaborations position the Texas Lottery as a key force for community impact. #LaFleursAustin, #CommunityEngagement, #PartnershipImpact, #EducationalSupport, #PartnershipStrategies

Veteran Housing Corp says that IF YOU ARE NOT PART OF A PERMANENT AND LASTING SOLUTION TO THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING CRISIS AND HOMELESSNESS, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM! THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX IS BROKEN AND NOT WORKING FOR AMERICAN TAXPAYERS Veteran Housing Corp would ask every TAXPAYER to demand and get answers from their elected and appointed government officials the below questions as they relate to any affordable, workforce, or supportive housing project in your community! 1. How much local, state, and federal funding, tax credits, or other government benefits or incentives did the project receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project? Is the affordability period permanent and in perpetuity? 3. What guarantees exist have your local, state, and federal government officials obtained in writing that rents will not go up or that tenants will not be displaced or evicted after the "affordability period expires? Every local, state, and federal housing authority and affordable or workforce housing stakeholder should adopt the State of Vermont's "permanent affordability" policy as a model for all future government funded or subsidized housing projects or developments, no exceptions! https://lnkd.in/eFEUC8c8 Additionally, local, state and federal housing agencies should look to the Helsinki, FINLAND MODEL of ending homelessness by providing affordable housing for all 'It’s a miracle': Helsinki's radical solution to homelessness https://lnkd.in/er9HZSQU Even the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development AGREES THAT adopting FINLAND'S MODEL OF ERADICATING HOMELESSNESS may be of great value to resolving the affordable housing and homelessness crises in America https://lnkd.in/gkSZWYRU

Where did the summer go? A minute ago it was Memorial Day, a second ago it was July 4th, and now it's Labor Day. Gretchen Rubin said, "The days are long, but the years are short." The idea is time passes quickly despite the long days of getting kids ready for school (breakfast, lunches made, dinner when they get home), running around to dance and soccer practices, making a trip to Michael's at 9p for art supplies for the assignment that's due tomorrow, buying a gift for the tenth kindergartner turning six, the dog throwing up and needing to go to the vet, and so on and so forth. Yes, it's true how fast it goes. Molly is 35, Kelly (32) and Jack (21). Where did the time go? Often, I think about those summer days when I was in junior high and high school that went on forever, "the dog days of summer." I counted down days until I could be back in school with my friends wearing my cute, new school clothes, in air-conditioning, and a day filled with activities. Yes, I'm nostalgic. But, Mama, doesn't have time for nostalgia. As I get older, time travels at warp speed. Here are ways to "slow down" time: 1. Breathe. Every time you stop at a stop sign or stoplight, breathe. 2. Be present. What do you smell? What do you hear? What do you feel? What do you taste? What do you see? 3. Be grateful. Write down three things you are grateful for each morning and night. I wish you grand days and long years. M #representationrebellion #embraceyourpower #personaltransformation #selfempowerment #rewriteyourstory #ageisjustanumber #ownyourjourney #communitysupport

Memorial Day in Orange County is more than just barbecues and parades. It's a time to honor our heroes and come together as a community. 🇺🇸 I remember last year, helping a retired couple downsize to a home that perfectly fit their new lifestyle. During our conversation, they shared their excitement about the local Memorial Day celebrations. It reminded me how deeply we are all connected by our history and our shared values. For many of us, especially baby boomers and retirees, moving can feel like a daunting task. But it's also an opportunity to create new traditions and embrace the vibrant culture of Orange County. Here are a few ways you can make the most of Memorial Day while transitioning to a new home: ✅ Attend local parades and events: Join the community in honoring our veterans. It's a great way to meet neighbors and feel a sense of belonging. ✅ Organize a barbecue: Invite your new neighbors over. Nothing breaks the ice like sharing stories over good food. ✅ Visit local landmarks: Explore Orange County's historical sites. It’s a perfect way to appreciate our rich heritage. ✅ Give Back: Participate in community service events. It’s a fulfilling way to honor the spirit of Memorial Day. As you celebrate, remember that every home we help find is a step towards building strong, connected communities. How are you celebrating Memorial Day in your community this year? Share your plans below and let’s honor this special day together. #MemorialDay #Community #RealEstate #BabyBoomers #OrangeCounty

The Fight for Justice Demands Unity, Action, and Resilience! At NEW (Nonprofit Enterprise at Work), our vision of a just, loving, and thriving nonprofit sector is facing unprecedented challenges. The incoming administration has made its intent clear: dismantle decades of progress in social, racial, and environmental justice. The stakes couldn’t be higher, and the future of our communities—and generations to come—is on the line. But we are not here to sit idly by. In response, we’re convening Southeast Michigan’s most passionate leaders to build power through unity and shared purpose. History reminds us that collective action is the strongest tool we have. Just as past generations have triumphed over seemingly insurmountable odds, we, too, are stronger when we stand together. At the heart of this event are four core pillars—Learn, Practice, Play, and Rest—designed to cultivate community that is both grounded and energized for the road ahead. This event isn’t just about equipping our community with tools for sustainable activism; it’s about transforming connections into an unshakable network of trust, support, and resilience. The fight continues. We know that we're #strongertogether #Justice #NonprofitLeadership #SocialImpact #Equity #Solidarity
Join us on January 20, 2025 (01/20/25), for Stay Woke —a day of grounding, inspiration, and community care for Southeast Michigan’s changemakers. Though some have attempted to weaponize the term “woke” in recent years, we’re here to reclaim it, standing firm in our commitment to the pursuit of racial and social justice. Through learning, practice, play, and rest, we'll come together to strengthen our bonds, share insights, and find joy in a community that shares our vision and values. Expect engaging discussions, interactive workshops, delicious food, and restorative moments designed to renew our spirits. This is a chance to get rooted in community, be inspired, and leave ready for the road ahead. Let’s come together for a day of solidarity and renewal! Get your ticket today! https://lnkd.in/eyAv5qFp
