Story Time! A recruiter reached out to me, but it was clear he had no idea what he was even hiring for. He wanted an iOS and Android app, written in two separate codebases—one in Swift and the other in Kotlin. This, while ambitious, is manageable (though it’s already a lot to expect from one person, considering these are entirely different skill sets). Then came the crazy part: he wanted me to build a tool that could convert the app logic into a website. But there was a catch—when viewed in a browser, iOS users should see the iOS app within the browser, and Android users should see the Android app. I asked him what would happen if someone visited from a browser on a PC. His response? "The tool should automatically adjust the layout accordingly." The conversation went on for another five minutes as I tried to explain why this was fundamentally wrong on so many levels. Finally, I asked him, "What exactly is the end result you're looking for?" His reply? "I don’t know! The client just wants someone experienced with Go, and that’s how I found your profile."
