Chinese discount online retailer Temu plans to welcome US third-party sellers, aiming to rival domestic competitors and build positive relations with American companies. This move, mirroring its potential strategy in Europe where it debuted last spring, is set to intensify competition among e-commerce platforms as they vie for new merchants. Major retailers like Amazon, Walmart, Target, Macy’s, and online marketplaces Etsy and Wayfair may feel the biggest impact. Before this expansion, Temu achieved over $9 billion in US sales last year alone, gaining significant public interest after securing a coveted Super Bowl ad spot. Previously, the US served as a testing ground for strategies later applied in Europe, where Temu quickly became a top cross-border e-commerce player. It's now the ninth-largest in the EU, as per Cross-Border Europe's annual rankings.
