Coming soon to SharePoint: create custom copilots to be site digital assistants that surface information grounded in specific content such as organisation policies, procedures and other content. Anyone with edit permissions in a SharePoint site, will be able to create custom copilots for specific purposes, such as project management or information retrieval. Users can ground their Copilots  on specific folders or files within a SharePoint site, which can then be shared with colleagues via links or directly in Microsoft Teams. These custom copilots adhere to existing SharePoint permissions, ensuring surfaced content is only seen to those who have permissions to view. Agents in SharePoint empower employees to gain insights faster and make informed decisions grounded on specific SharePoint content. Users can easily create their own agents, tailored to specific SharePoint files, folders or sites that support common business processes. These agents can be edited to have a personalized name and certain behaviors, and can be shared across emails, meetings and chats, with users being able to ask the agents questions and getting real-time responses. Agents in SharePoint follow existing SharePoint user permissions and sensitivity labels to help prevent the oversharing of sensitive information. Following on from my last post regarding #Microsoft Ignite and the importance of #SharePoint in the #Copilot family, today saw the release of SharePoint Agents. Whether you use SharePoint as the basis of your corporate Intranet, Document Management or Knowledge Base SharePoint Agents are a huge leap forward in how users find and collaborate on content. So what do Agent's provide, well from a single click, with no code you can build a content targeted Copilot you can use in SharePoint and Teams chat. Now you are probably thinking where's the catch, bet I need Copilot for M365?. Well it's not free but you don't need the Copilot for M365 license, just a Copilot Studio tenant license. However, I am sure when users see the power and benefits of SharePoint Agents they will be banging the doors in asking for Copilot for M365, this is a great way to POC, evaluate and prove ROI for Copilot. The example below shows a SharePoint Agent targeted at Case Studies which are stored in a Document Library in the Sales and Marketing site, users can use #GenerativeAI to find and interact with content. Get started with Copilot Agents in SharePoint. Now, with the ability for Microsoft 365 Copilot licensed users to use and build agents inside SharePoint, we have a powerful new tool to tailor how Copilot works, scoped within the boundaries of certain data, and with customized instructions to respond how you want it to. In my video I overview how to use these new agents, how to build them, and highlight a more complex use case that shines a light on the potential of these capabilities. However, it's not all positive, I also look at where the limitations are right now, and why, currently, these tools may not do exactly what you have imagined. Copilot Agents are now available in our SharePoint tenants! 🎉 These cutting-edge agents enable the creation of small conversational bot services using documents from your SharePoint library. 🌐 Creating an agent is quick and effortless – simply select the relevant documents and click "Create a Copilot agent" in the ribbon. With just a click, your agent is ready to use! 🤖 Here are some insights from my initial testing: Agents are both created and accessed exclusively from the SharePoint library where they are made. A Microsoft 365 Copilot license is required for creating and using these agents. The permissions for the agent and its data source are derived from the same SharePoint library. The agent is stored as a schema file within the library. Additional files can be added as knowledge from any library within the agent's site collection. Looking ahead, these SharePoint agents can be upgraded to full Copilot Studio agents.
