What Low-Stress Skills Can I Learn Alongside Programming? Answers: https://lnkd.in/gF2jb4SS #ProgrammingJourney #LearningPath #TechGoals Hey everyone! 👋 I'm looking for some guidance as I try to sort out my learning schedule. I've got some ambitious goals for the next three years, and I want to make the most of my time without getting overwhelmed. Here's what I'm aiming to learn: 🔍 Database management systems (SQL, query optimization, server performance tuning) ⚙️ Operating systems (Linux performance tuning and testing) 💻 Computer organization and architecture 🐧 Linux fundamentals and bash scripting 📜 Programming (I've chosen Java, but open to other languages) 🚀 Server administration (building toy servers for DNS, email, etc.) ☸️ Kubernetes fundamentals 📦 Docker fundamentals 📊 Microsoft Excel fundamentals 💾 Backend development (Node.js course focused on building applications) 📚 Data Structures and Algorithms As you can see, almost everything ties back to programming, which is what I'm working on currently. I can manage about **90 minutes** of focused programming practice each day, solving problems that challenge me. But with work commitments,...

Day [11] of #100DaysOfCode 🚀 Today’s Learning Recap: Middleware in Backend Development 🚀 Hello LinkedIn community! 🌟 Today, I took a deep dive into the world of middleware and its applications in web development. Middleware plays a crucial role in handling requests and responses in a web application. Here are some key takeaways from my learning journey: 🔹 What is Middleware? Middleware functions as a bridge between the client and server, processing requests before they reach the server and responses before they are sent to the client. It’s like the unsung hero that ensures smooth communication and efficient processing. 🔹 Applications of Middleware: Authentication & Authorization: Ensuring that users are who they claim to be and have the right permissions. Logging & Monitoring: Keeping track of requests and responses for debugging and performance analysis. Error Handling: Managing errors gracefully and providing meaningful feedback to users. Data Transformation: Modifying request and response data, such as parsing JSON or compressing files. Understanding middleware has given me a new perspective on how to build more robust and scalable web applications. I’m excited to implement these concepts in my projects and see the improvements firsthand! #WebDevelopment #Middleware #LearningJourney #Tech #Programming #WebDev

Happy Friday! I finally finished my first course of the IBM Full Stack Software Developer Professional Certificate (14 more courses to go!). This has been a fantastic learning experience so far, and I wanted to share some interesting and useful insights I’ve gained throughout the course. I highly recommend giving it a try if you’re interested in software engineering. 🔄 𝗦𝗼𝗳𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗖𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲 (𝗦𝗗𝗟𝗖) Key phases include Planning, Requirement Gathering, Design, Development, Testing, Deployment, and Maintenance. Each phase plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality software. One key takeaway for me was the importance of 𝗱𝗼𝗰𝘂𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. While it’s not officially a phase of the SDLC, it is vital to the process. As a new developer, I rely heavily on existing documentation to understand parts of the project I haven't worked on before, and I also enjoy creating documentation for new processes to support my team. 👥 𝗦𝗼𝗳𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 - 𝗣𝗮𝗶𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 I learned about three pair programming styles in this course: • 🚘 Driver/Navigator: The Driver writes the code while the Navigator reviews it. • 🏓 Ping-Pong: Developers write tests and code alternately, which encourages test-driven development (TDD). • 👩💻 Strong Style: The Junior developer is the Driver, and the Senior developer is the Navigator. I haven't tried the Ping-Pong style yet, but I would love to experience this approach one day! What’s your take on pair programming? Have you tried all of these styles? If so, which one is your favorite? 🧪 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗟𝗮𝗯 This was probably my favorite activity from the course because I got to write "Hello, World!" in 11 languages: C, Java, Go, Python, JavaScript, Ruby, PHP, Perl, Bash, C++, and as a bonus, HTML. For some of these languages, it was my first time writing in them! 🛠️ 𝗦𝗼𝗳𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀 This module introduced me to various software architecture patterns, which were completely new to me. It was fascinating to learn about these different patterns, especially with practical examples that helped me visualize how applications built on each of these patterns might look. Here are a few examples: • 2-Tier: Messaging apps • 3-Tier: Web applications • Event-Driven: Ride-share apps • Peer-to-Peer: Cryptocurrency networks • Microservices: E-commerce platforms ☁ I’m excited to start my next course on Introduction to Cloud Computing and look forward to learning even more! #FullStackDeveloper #ContinuousLearning #SoftwareDevelopment #IBMCertified #ProblemSolving #TechCommunity #GrowthMindset #PairProgramming #SoftwareArchitecture #ProgrammingLanguages #AgileDevelopment #TechSkills
