"This day didn’t just transform the girls; it impacted the community as well." Kadiatou, Human Rights Advisor at our Simandou project, is driving change in Guinea by advocating for women’s rights, inclusion and opportunities — inspiring young girls to see a brighter future. We're breaking down barriers through programs like the Simandou Moussolou committee and mentoring initiatives. Recently, girls from local communities spent a week discovering the roles we have at our site — including those of engineer and safety leader. "When I came here, I discovered that women work in the offices, or on the sites, just like men," Angeline, a student, shared. "This gives me the courage to focus on my studies so that in the future I can work here." The experience was a reminder for Kadiatou of the enormous potential that lies within every girl in neighbouring communities. "We’re committed to ensuring that human rights are not just respected but actively championed, and that every girl knows her future is hers to shape," Kadiatou said. #FindingBetterWays #WorldHumanRightsDay

It's such a pleasure to be part of this gigantic Simandou project through RioTinto, with a human rights scoop ✊️ What's even more interesting is that my position gives me the opportunity to promote women in the mines to the team, but not only. It also allows me to encourage girls and women to take an interest in the mining world in this age of economic opportunity. One thing's for sure, all the RioTinto teams are working to continue creating inclusive, safe and secure workplaces for all.

Very easy to coax, especially when you don't know. So, tell me (Rio Tinto) what do you think about the ''INDUSTRIAL DEPOLLUTION'' in relation to the Simandou project in my country. You have total access to everything, yet you do not respect some of your responsibilities towards the Guinean population. Personally I have nothing against you, but we must respect the National and International Standards regarding this project. '''' FODEP'''
