Telling Your Military Story 2.0 Let me introduce you to one of the United States Navy’s newest sailors, Seaman Recruit Khalil C. Revels! Seaman Recruit Revels is entering the Navy as a 5th-generation military member, following in the footsteps of his cousin, uncle, great uncle, grand uncle, and great-grandfather! So proud of my nephew! In the U.S. military, it is estimated that a significant portion of new recruits come from military families. According to recent reports from the Department of Defense and various studies, about 30-40% of new enlisted recruits have immediate family members who served in the military, such as parents or siblings. This trend reflects a strong tradition of military service within certain families and communities, contributing to the overall recruitment base. In addition, families with a military history often pass down values like duty, honor, and service, which can influence the decision of younger generations to enlist. This creates a self-sustaining cycle of recruitment within certain communities, reinforcing military traditions. Godspeed, Khalil!

What is your Royal Navy nickname, where did it come from, and why? All is revealed in this book, The Andrew, Jack & Jenny. https://amzn.to/4cKF0Xn Unlike the civilian nicknames we get labelled with, those our classmates called us at school, the names various work colleagues may apply to us from time to time, or the ones our siblings find amusing, a military nickname has greater significance, it holds a value only fully comprehended by our contemporaries. Arguably, the Royal Navy has the most entrenched tradition among the services for bestowing nicknames, names not only for each sailor but for places, equipment, and actions. This book, The Andrew, Jack & Jenny, focuses on the names given to each skin and essence the moment they became a matelot. Royal Naval nicknames are not chosen by the recipient, they are bestowed, irrevocably, by custom and tradition. Paperback from Amazon, https://amzn.to/4cKF0Xn #navy #royalnavy #military #veteran #sailor #matelot #service #names #nicknames #life
