When designing a new product, it’s important to think about how the product will be manufactured. Design for manufacturing (DFM) prevents quality issues and eliminates manufacturing waste. DFM offers an opportunity to reduce risk early in the process. It's much harder and more expensive to make changes closer to launch. Swipe to explore seven steps product designers can take to optimize for DFM. Ready to delve deeper? Our Services | Turn your projects into life with #RapidPrototyping What is Rapid Prototyping? Rapid prototyping is a process that uses advanced technologies to create physical models of a product quickly and efficiently. This allows businesses to visualize, test, and refine their designs before committing to full-scale production. Why Rapid Prototyping? ✅ Improved #customization: it allows to tailor your products to specific needs with greater precision and speed. ✅ Increased responsiveness: #flexibility to adapt to market trends and customer demands, gaining a competitive edge. ✅ Cost efficiency: it lowers inventory costs and minimizes the risk of producing unsold products. At ONEDGE, we are committed to providing assistance with our design and engineering expertise on every project. We advise our clients and commit to fast delivery times (depending on the project, even within 24 hours). #Technology #ProductDesign #AdditiveManufacturing #Engineering #FastProduction #MadeinItaly

Heroes of #Hardware world. Giles Lowe, CEO of Spanner. Few people can build a successful consumer electronics product. Even fewer can build multiple successful products. Giles Lowe, Arne Lang-Ree and Spanner team have been developing amazing products for the best of Bay Area corporations 🍏 and startups 🚀 for over a decade. Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, Product Strategy. We had a pleasure working together in the past. Spanner team was an example for AJProTech when we were getting started adding Mechanical design services. That was the time when we started offering one-stop product development, from idea to production. It's always great to meet and discuss trends, opportunities, and where industry is going. Looking forward to continue building future gems together! #industrialdesign #productdesign #mechanicaldesign #design

𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻𝘀? It all starts with an idea—a rough image of what, how, where, and when! The client, researcher, or owner comes up with a paper design. After a few meetings, this initial #design is transformed into a #3D model using Computer-Aided Design (#CAD) software. These meetings aim to achieve a clear understanding of 𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓, 𝐇𝐎𝐖, 𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄, and 𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍. 𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓: What is the goal, end result, or function you want the product or prototype to have? This section establishes the overall objective of the custom-made product. 𝐇𝐎𝐖: How will this setup work? Will it need automation? Will it operate at high speeds? How often will it be changed? Here, the engineer's expertise determines the types of automation, materials, and compatibility. 𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄: Where will the prototype operate? Will it be at room temperature, in a humid or freezing environment, or in hot and dry conditions? This section determines the type of materials and handling processes needed. 𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍: When will the product or prototype be needed? This section decides the manufacturing process, cost of production, and quality of the product. By addressing these questions, the process moves from an initial concept to a detailed and actionable design. #CareerDevelopment #Innovation #Entrepreneurship #Engineering #Tech #EngineeringInnovation

𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸. Our people have done some amazing things, even in the face of uncertainty. The 𝗖𝗙-𝟭𝟬𝟱 𝗔𝘃𝗿𝗼 𝗔𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄 is one of my favourites. Designed and manufactured in the 1950s, almost where 𝗧𝗼𝗿𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗼'𝘀 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗶𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 sits today. Even though this project pioneered a lot of the technology in use today and gave aerospace technology a significant boost, it's not what they built that I find most impressive. It's how they built it in the face of so much adversity. Avro's seemingly impossible task was to build an aircraft that could sustain Mach 2 with a heavy payload that was all internal. Schedule demands forced them to think outside the box with: 🔹CONCURENT ENGINEERING: Where design, testing, and production activity significantly overlapped. Imagine designing and manufacturing an aircraft at the same time. This would still be a challenge today with what we have. 🔹MODULAR ASSEMBLY: So they could have different teams working in parallel on separate sections of the aircraft. 🔹DIGITAL COMPUTING IN DESIGN: Avro leveraged early computer-aided design (CAD) systems to accelerate development, reducing physical prototyping. 🔹PRE_FABRICATED TOOLING: Custom jigs and fixtures helped streamline the transition from design to manufacturing, cutting down production time. 🔹INTEGRATED SUPPLIER NETWORK: Avro coordinated with suppliers to ensure just-in-time delivery of critical components, reducing delays and storage needs. 🔹AUTOMATION & SPECIALIZED EQUIPMENT: Automated riveters, precision machining tools and specialized fab equipment were used to enhance production speed and consistency. I know that in this day and age, many of these approaches don't seem too impressive, but this was the 1950s. Just from an account of how they approached things, I'm sure you can sense the culture and collaboration they must have needed to do great things. The sad part is that many businesses and organizations today lack this level of culture and collaboration to achieve their own great things. Even though we should aim our gaze to the horizon, once in a while, we should still look back at the lessons we may have left behind. "...𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘥𝘰 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘯 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘰𝘴𝘵 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺..." -Aldous Huxley (Paraphrased)
