The rate and velocity of innovation in this space are critical to staying ahead. In fact, the evolution graph for AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) has been almost vertical in recent months (I’ll share it in the comments). When selecting a vendor, it’s vital to choose one that can keep pace with this rapid innovation. While many can operate AI tools, few possess the motivation, clarity of vision, creativity, domain expertise, and execution ability to truly excel. Don’t fall into the trap of defaulting to established vendors—they thrived in a slower era of innovation. Today, bigger doesn’t always mean faster or more focused. I love Jon Evans's podcast, the Uncensored CMO. True to its name, it offers unfiltered views from the 'great and the good' across marketing, talking about a wide range of marketing-related topics. This morning I had a chance to listen to the episode with none other than Jon Lombardo and Peter Weinberg, ex LinkedIn B2B Institute and now at their own shop Evidenza. They talked about the importance of brand building in B2B, the 95:5 rule, category entry points, why distinctive assets are essential, and then, bam, they talked about AI and synthetic research. Now, that sparked my interest. How can we use AI to create synthetic copies of customers and deliver data faster, cheaper and just as accurate? An interesting proposition for many but especially in B2B where it's tricky to get data in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
