The most common resume mistake? Listing job duties without showcasing results. Imagine saying, "I ran campaigns," but not clarifying if they succeeded or how they impacted growth. Instead, back up your experience with concrete numbers, metrics, and data. For example, rather than "Managed social media accounts," you could say, "Increased social media engagement by 35%, boosting lead generation by 20% in Q3." Adding these specifics clearly demonstrates your expertise and value.

90% of my revenue comes from resume templates and job search toolkits. But you won't see me posting job search advice here. Here’s why: 1. Job search is a nuanced topic, and short posts rarely do it justice. Whenever I thought about sharing job search tips, I felt like adding to the noise. But sharing the behind-the-scenes of my digital product business and what I’ve learned? That’s different. It feels natural. (And as a bonus, it’s helped me connect with some amazing people here.) 2. More importantly, I built my business mostly off social media. My traffic and sales come from Pinterest, blog posts, and media features. These are all free, evergreen channels that drive traffic to my site 24/7. Which brings me to the question I get a lot, “Do I need to be active on socials or have a huge following to sell digital products?” My answer is, “No. But…” Even though it might feel that way, social media isn’t the only way to promote your products (or services, for that matter). But to make sales, you do need a steady flow of traffic. So, experiment with channels that feel natural to you and double down on those. That’s where you’ll start to see real traction.

You do not need to include your address on your resume anymore, but you do need to make sure to include a phone number and professional email address (not your work email address) as well as other places the hiring manager can find you on the web, like your LinkedIn profile and Twitter handle. (Implicit in this is that you keep these social media profiles suitable for prospective employers.)

"Ever wondered why your LinkedIn job application never gets a response🤔? It’s not personal—nearly 80% of resumes get filtered out by algorithms before reaching a recruiter. Could these mistakes be holding you back? Here’s what to fix: 1. Incomplete profile: Fill in every section—add skills, certifications, and a clear headline. 2. Wrong keywords: Use job-specific keywords in your summary and experience to match the roles you're targeting. 3. Too generic: Customize your profile and resume for each job application—show you're the right fit. 4. Low engagement:📈 Start commenting on posts, joining groups, and connecting with industry professionals to increase your visibility. 5. Inconsistent details:📊 Ensure your resume and LinkedIn profile align with the same information and achievements."

The ATS is not the problem. The problem is: you’re not clear on what you want in your next role. When we don’t have clarity, submitting job applications becomes a tangled mess. Our resumes and LinkedIn profiles are either: ☁️ Overly complicated and cluttered. Or... ☁️ Too vague and wide-ranging Before you dive into your job search, have you paused to ask yourself: “What is it that I truly want in my next opportunity?” ☀️ Once you have clarity, your resume will write itself. And... ☀️ Your LinkedIn profile will tell a clear, compelling story. If you’re reading this and thinking, “I could use some help getting started.” DM me the word “CLARITY” for more tips!

Are job postings on LinkedIn real or fake? One common concern I've noticed, and personally experienced, is the seeming prevalence of fake or misleading job postings on platforms like LinkedIn. Despite submitting numerous applications for positions that align closely with our skills and expertise, we often receive responses indicating that a more suitable candidate has been found, or worse, we hear nothing at all. It's disheartening to invest time and effort into crafting tailored applications, only to feel like our submissions disappear into a void. It feels disheartening when job advertisements seem to serve as a mechanism for collecting CVs rather than filling actual positions.

🚀 Could the XYZ Formula Transform Your Resume? 📄 Crafting the perfect resume can feel like piecing together a complex puzzle. Ever wondered how to make yours truly stand out? The XYZ Resume Formula might be a game-changer. This framework, attributed to Laszlo Bock from Google, suggests presenting your achievements like this: Accomplished [X] as measured by [Y], by doing [Z]. For example, instead of saying "Led digital marketing campaigns," you could say, "Orchestrated innovative digital marketing campaigns (X), increasing online engagement by 40% and generating a 15% rise in sales (Y), by leveraging targeted social media advertising and SEO optimization techniques (Z)." This method emphasizes quantifying achievements, but it might not fit every role or profession. 💡 Question for You: How do you highlight your accomplishments on your resume? Have you tried the XYZ formula, and if so, what impact did it have? Check out this article to learn more: https://lnkd.in/eGNaTB_U #ResumeTips #CareerAdvice #JobSearch #ProfessionalGrowth #XYZFormula

Here are results from posting a paid job ad on Linkedin Jobs: Applicants: 350 over three weeks Time spent on reviewing applicants: 4 hours (probably more) Daily budget: $100 Total spend: $2656.72 Applicants that went to the first round of interviews: 2 Success rate (from application to interview): 0.57% (!!!) Cost per relevant applicant: $1,328.36 (!!!) Conclusion: LinkedIn Jobs doesn't work well, at all. Good candidates email me after they read the job ad and find a fit. Out of the relevant two that applied via LI, one also wrote an email and that's how I moved in the process with him. The other 348 applicants, or 99.43% were irrelevant. LI does nothing to really filter candidates because their business model is pay per applicant, not value for the hiring party. Candidates spam hiring managers on LI using the Easy Apply feature. All this feature does is take money from hiring organizations without providing any value (0.57%, that's how low the value is!). That's a huge problem, and a huge problem is a huge opportunity.

How can you guarantee your rank in a LinkedIn search? You can't! The ranking of your profile is dependent on the relevancy to the searcher. The variables that determine your ranking include the searcher's profile and attributes, and the filters that the searcher/hiring manager/recruiter applies. However, you 𝙘𝙖𝙣 improve your order and visibility in recruiter search results. ➡️ 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲 - Make sure you can be found by your current position, past positions, the schools you attended, what you studied, etc. * Profile completeness not only helps you show up in more searches, but improves how you are matched in the system. ➡️ 𝗔𝗱𝗱 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 - Skills are among the most common queries performed by recruiters/hiring managers. *Don't forget to pin your top three so they show up in searches! ➡️ 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗢𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 - The more connections you have, the better..and the closer you may get to the recruiter. *Visiting your 2nd and 3rd connections--and reaching out-- may improve the likelihood of your profile to appear in searches. ➡️ 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗧𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲𝘀 - Don't use funny and creative ones. * Standard job titles may be boring, but they are what other members/recruiters search for.
