Do you qualify for the high end of a salary range? Probably not, says new data: A new report from Glassdoor finds that new hires are actually more likely to be offered a lower salary than they expect—regardless of what the job listing says. As more companies have started posting job listings with pay ranges—in part due to state laws mandating some measure of pay transparency—many job seekers are now armed with more information when they enter into salary negotiations. http://dlvr.it/TDs96Z

Answering the Salary Question Like a Pro When the "What are your salary expectations?" question comes up in an interview, it's a pivotal moment to advocate for your worth. Here's how to approach it confidently: Research Is Key: Arm yourself with information. Use platforms like Glassdoor and PayScale, along with industry salary surveys, to understand the typical compensation for the role in your area. Know Your Value: Consider your skills, experience, and the unique value you bring. You're not just looking for a number but what reflects your worth. Offer a Range: Sharing a salary range demonstrates your market knowledge and openness to negotiation. Turn the Tables: If it feels too early to discuss specific numbers, ask about the salary range budgeted for the position. This can give you a better idea of what they're expecting to offer. Look Beyond Salary: Remember, compensation isn't just about salary. Total compensation includes benefits, flexibility, growth potential, and other factors; you should weigh all these elements when making your decision. #CareerAdvice #SalaryNegotiation #SearchLabs

Salary can be a touchy subject but luckily salary transparency on job postings is helping improve the benchmarking data. Once you understand where the market is, you'll have a better idea of where to get started when asking for an increase or negotiating a salary for a job offer. Q: How should you approach filling in the desired salary field on a job application when the salary range isn't provided? The application requires a specific number rather than a range. Answer: If the application asks for a specific figure, you have a few options. Personally, I would enter my ideal salary, which is often the midpoint of the range I have in mind. Don’t worry too much about this question; it's generally not a dealbreaker for recruiters during initial screenings. Aim to provide a figure that reflects your expectations without stressing too much. Just state your ideal salary and see how it plays out. #jobsearch #jobsearching #salary #salarytransparency #antoniascareertips #careercoach

We are pleased to share our Salary Benchmark Guide which was republished in August 2024. The tables should be considered in conjunction with the FAQs which provide explanation. As always, especially in an industry with such disparate Job Titles, every situation is different and so do reach out if you have questions. We will now be updating this guide biannually, in order to ensure our report reflects data and information that is as up to date as it can be. The bands are provided as guidance to the professional services industry for business cases and recruitment decisions. They represent the bandings you will need in place to acquire talent in today’s market. https://lnkd.in/ejV56j3T #seldonrosser #salarybenchmarks #professionalservices #careerdevelopment Katie Rosser Paula Saxon Graham Seldon

Where does the average Joe end up landing an offer in the posted salary range? The survey says...... Glassdoor analyzed data from Glassdoor on job listings from January-July 2024. Based on employee-reported salary data, they discovered that offers skewed more toward the lower end of the salary ranges. (Graphic below breaks it down further). Other findings: 🔸Salary ranges published for larger employers have the largest accuracy 🔸There is no difference in accuracy between states that have pay transparency laws versus those that don’t. Full report in comments below. PS. Please don't use this information as the basis of your salary negotiation. Highlight your value and contributions.
