North East Goes Purple to Celebrate Accessibility & Inclusion The Town Hall will join other landmarks across the region tonight (Tues 12 Nov) and light up purple as visitor economy businesses come together to mark Purple Tuesday –a worldwide initiative for accessibility and inclusion. Purple Tuesday is a global social movement for improving the customer experience for disabled people and their families 365 days a year. England’s first Destination Development Partnership - Destination North East England is leading the charge to help the region to become one of Europe’s most accessible, inclusive and welcoming destinations, hoping to capitalise on our world-famous welcoming reputation and ensure everybody can have an unforgettable visit to North East England. The partnership has ambitious plans to double the value of the visitor economy over the next 10 years and aims to ensure the region is best placed to welcome its share of the more than 700,000 inbound visits to the UK from people with disabilities or impairments that visited last year. By becoming one of Europe’s most accessible and inclusive destinations, the region stands to benefit greatly from the more than £14.6 billion spent annually on tourism trips in England by those with an impairment. #SouthTyneside #northeast

Coliving? Hostel? What's the difference⁉ A co-living is more than a bed 🛏 ; it's a community fostering connections and growth. Often confused, but it's about shared experiences and a true home away from home. 🏡 Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dZhvmDi8 #community #coliving #hostel #digitalnomads #remoteworkers

About #flexliving and #coliving in The District Show and how the industry changes the #realestate sheme. The offer reflects the segmentation and its tendency to offer accommodation for young people and seniors, but what about the family segment? An issue to face in the coming years… #hospitalityprojects

Where do I stay when in Mwanza? I usually try to keep costs down hence I am staying in an Airbnb. It is basic but it does the job. This is my room. I have access to the kitchen and living room along with other lodgers and the owner. There are no showers in the main house. To shower, I have to grab my stuff and walk across the court yard to the back house where there is a bathroom. It is a bit like camping. No aircon but a fan on the wall does the job. #cedartanzania #changinglives #corporatesocialresposibility #environmentsocialgovernance #responsiblebusinesses #communityImpact #diversity #inclusion #ESGvsCSR #ESGexplained #CSRexplained #goodcompanies #ethicalbusiness #ethicalliving #beagoodhuman #thinkwhereyoushop #globalconsciense #ourresponsibility

I have known and worked with Haz Memon for more than 4 years now, and I still learn from him regularly! It was great to take a full hour to talk about his journey in the coliving industry. Haz shares his path from tourism studies and digital nomadism to building successful coliving spaces in Switzerland and Greece under the ESCAPE brand with his partner. He offers insights into community building, starting from scratch (8 years ago!) and the importance of delegating (and accepting that you are replaceable 😱 ) if you want to scale. Check out the full episode via the link in the comments. #coliving #community #digitalnomads #scaling

Throughout my adult life, I have always enjoyed hosting people. Be it by running a nightclub, organizing festivals, workshops, or conferences. I love the level of complexity, especially once the events get bigger and longer. At the moment, I am in my Portuguese mountain village. We have gathered with 8 people who own property here and are committed to potentially being neighbors for life. We are working on the land and aligning on expectations, commitments, and issues. Some of us have been working on regenerating this village since 2017; some joined last year. It's been an interesting process, and it reminded me of Richard Bartlett's graphic below, about hosting capacity as a measure of agency. Many of the people that are now here with me are people that I have organized and hosted other people in the past with. Mostly through our mutual work at Stichting Love Foundation & Viva con Agua It is very useful when discussing how to create a coliving neighborhood and design and facilitate processes that make everybody feel comfortable. I highly recommend reading the article, especially if you are interested in community living or long-term hosting. (link in comments) In my experience, taking the slow route and moving from organizing a dinner party over a retreat or a festival to finally a coliving situation is very healthy and can prevent a lot of the issues that are so present in many coliving communities. I am curious to hear your experiences, if you have tried or are managing to pull off coliving experiences or communities. #communitylife #artofhosting
