We are seeing the attacks on the minster by institutions, academics, researchers, the lot, on the cuts to research funding in the humanities. BUT...I've seldom seen their research presented to government policy teams, seldom seen it debated in political circles to become policy. Never presented in policy advisory groups again to be considered for policy, and contribute to policy for REAL CHANGE. Could our research units in institutions, researchers, academics STOP talking amongst themselves on how great their research is, and actually talk to the powers that be on findings for ACTUAL solutions. The problem is not the cuts! the problem is government and the average person never knows anything about your research NOTHING. Because YOUR too busy patting each other on the back, attending conferences, talking to other academics, increasing your intelligence, but seldom sharing that information for REAL change. You have become the intelligence elitist, all bark but no bite. I love the space I am in because I see everyday New Zealanders, some having minimal qualifications influencing policy, no funding and they wouldn't think to ask, self funded research based on shear passion and no.8 wire grit. They get how to make their research useful and meaningful for impactful policy. Wake up academics especially in the humanities! Make your research truly count!

The Honourable Judith Collins has lived up to her name as "Crusher Collins"and crushed research funding for Humanities and Social Sciences, disbanding funding for applications that represent the following disciplines: History; law; Māori studies; indigenous studies; social, developmental, organisational, community and health psychology; social, education; urban design and environmental studies; public health; public policy; political science; architecture. The rationale? There is no immediate economic return on investment or export potential. So sadly short-sighted.

Using the Jesuit values of critical hope and social justice, Gonzaga researchers Corey Knadler, Laura Diaz Martinez, Annmarie Caño, Kirk R. Anders, Yolanda Gallardo, and Nancy L. Staub examined course registration practices. Their findings led to innovative solutions to reduce bias, including Cohort-Based Registration with Randomized Order. This approach prioritizes fairness by having students register within their cohort (e.g., first-year, sophomore) in a randomized order rather than by total credits earned.
