We all know about the lawsuits accusing hashtag#revenuemanagement software of driving up rents. They're barking up the wrong tree. This article—prepared in collaboration with our friends at Radix—uses some specific datapoints that describe what's actually going on. Supply conditions are the cause of fluctuations in rent. And there are three clear and *very* different sets of conditions that are driving prices in markets across the US. Rents are down where supply is up (irrespective of whether or not properties are using RM software!) Where rents are up (like in the DC example that's doing the rounds at the moment) it's because there's a dearth of new supply.
