THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX IS BROKEN AND NOT WORKING FOR AMERICAN TAXPAYERS Veteran Housing Corp would ask every TAXPAYER to demand and get answers from their elected and appointed government officials the below questions as they relate to any affordable, workforce, or supportive housing project in your community! 1. How much local, state, and federal funding, tax credits, or other government benefits or incentives did the project receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project? Is the affordability period permanent and in perpetuity? 3. What guarantees exist have your local, state, and federal government officials obtained in writing that rents will not go up or that tenants will not be displaced or evicted after the "affordability period expires? A wise observation! The founding fathers of the United States of America indeed envisioned a democratic system where citizens would have the power to choose their leaders. They understood the importance of responsible leadership and the impact it has on the nation's future. As l mentioned, choosing the next president wisely is crucial for the country's progress and prosperity. It's essential for citizens to engage in informed discussions, evaluate candidates' policies and character, and exercise their right to vote. By doing so, they can help shape the country's future and honor the founding fathers' legacy.

It was an honor to be in community with our Coro Southern California alumni who are leading the charge in addressing housing insecurity and houselessness across our region. Together, we engaged in a meaningful dialogue about the future of leadership in housing access and houselessness, exploring the critical skills and vision needed to create lasting change. A special thank you to our partner, Cedars-Sinai, and my exceptional friend, co-host and co-moderator, Erin Jackson-Ward, DrPH. As we tackle our most entrenched public challenges, it is essential to be in community. The collective commitment to tackling these complex issues through collaboration and innovation represents our promise to a future where every Angeleno has a safe, stable place to call home. By connecting visionary leaders, sharing diverse insights, and fostering authentic conversations, we are not only uncovering solutions but also igniting the collective action needed to drive real change. Key takeaways from our discussion: 🔵 We must invest in leadership retention, pipeline, and succession infrastructure within the sector. 🔵 We need more spaces that remind us of our shared purpose and mutual support - that we have each other. 🔵 Our progress is limited by the strength of our relationships—creating ongoing opportunities for connection is crucial. TRUSTEES FOR CIVIC INFRASTRUCTURE Our commitment to enhancing civic infrastructure by encouraging, educating, and inspiring individuals of all ages throughout the county would not be possible without the continued support of our trustees. LEADERship has a small group of Trustees for Civic Infrastructure who provide an annual investment critical to the ongoing success of our program. Each investment goes directly to participant programming and results in people taking on leadership roles in the community. LEADERship, in turn, banners the names of the Trustee organizations on LEADERship publications and materials. As is almost always the case with education, tuition for the class year does not cover the cost of the program. The support from the Trustees for Civic Infrastructure allows LEADERship to keep tuition at an affordable price to maintain the diversity we seek. That also allows us to maintain the growing network of leaders who are working individually and collectively to strengthen our communities.
