Well, of course people are going to complain about #commute times if they’re increasingly moving away from city centers! Some context: If you look at national statistics, the biggest barrier to returning to the #office is the commute. This was recently reinforced by a Robin report (thanks, Christophe Garnier for sending that over), which showed that commute length, gas prices, and parking costs were holding people back. Simultaneously, the world is seeing workers move farther and farther away from central business districts, extending their own commute times by choice. Nick Bloom calls it the "donut effect," where suburbs and exurbs are getting quite a bit more love than downtowns. The upside: with less frequent visits to the office, families are choosing to live where they can afford to buy. Their kids have backyards to play in. There's fresher air to breathe. And it's why Radious has focused on activating residential properties as workspaces, because they're in residential areas — precisely where people live. Best of both worlds: great workspaces, right in employees' neighborhoods. #RemoteWork doesn't have to be lonely. It needn't be solitary. We just need to provide the right access. Those who rely on committed and motivated employees to survive in a highly competitive market will soon be confronted with a new reality: a generation of employees who simply no longer feel like working. In real terms this means higher turnover rates and additional recruitment and training costs. Learn more about the six steps companies should be taking to address the challenges of their younger employees 👉 https://lnkd.in/dutAj7nT The article is written by Laura Hochegger, our Executive Assistant Strategy, Sustainability, Innovation. #housing #workforce #GrECo

A large portion of the American population still travels to work regularly, with the gap between their workplace and home expanding over time. Recent research from Stanford University shows a rise in 40-plus-mile commutes, as workers now have more flexibility in choosing where they reside. Additionally, the number of individuals commuting 75 miles or more, referred to as super commuters, has increased by one-third since the beginning of the pandemic. #Vanpooling presents itself as a potential #mobilitysolution to alleviate the difficulties experienced by these super commuters. #CommutewithEnterprise
