For #iwd2024 #InvestInWomen, we recognised our favourite entrepreneur, co-owner and CEO, Jenn Crowther. We give five reasons why the saying "you'd bet your bottom dollar" (on Jenn) is spot on. We would, and we do.
We've worked together at Yorkshire in Business for twenty years, and only in the last twelve years have we all realised what a great entrepreneur and leader of our multiple enterprises we're lucky to have.
Here's why "great" is no exaggeration:
1) ENTREPRENEURSHIP MEANS ACTION
.
Creating something out of nothing. Creating real value useful for our community does not happen only from a positive mindset and strategic thinking. Our 'small is beautiful' world requires enterprise skills, quick learning from mistakes, learning by doing, taking others to places they didn't think they could go, taking acceptable risks, testing the water, and seeking and seizing opportunities. Jenn can do every job, including decorating workspaces and all the accounts in our four companies. This means she knows where every penny is gained and lost and has all the Big 13 Enterprise skills we feel are important to survive and thrive.
2) HAPPIPRENEURSHIP MEANS VALUES
Yorkshire in Business Ltd, Yorkshire Coast Workshops Ltd, The Grind Cafe, ExploreIndie (pop-up shops), and the other enterprises we invest in are great and fun places to work.
The main reason for this and our team's amazing loyalty is that Jenn treats everyone individually so that they understand our values and find their best work style (tasks, hours, days, location, environment, team, etc.).
It's fun at work, and we also like to party outside of work. Happiness doesn't come from the parties. It comes from being useful. The profits from our five rented workspace buildings and other entrepreneurial ventures go into providing FREE #startup support along the Yorkshire Coast.
3) POSITIVE CASH FLOW, PROFITABILITY AND AVOIDANCE OF DEBT.
As you may know from The Happipreneur and Be More Happipreneur show, where Jenn is featured along with ninety other entrepreneurs, most owners of businesses aren't the high-risk mavericks seeking investors and loans. Most, like Jenn, love to grow their business organically, have a healthy bank balance to manage the inevitable 'downs', take advantage of the 'ups', and sleep well at night. Thanks to Jenn, we have £2 million in assets, a positive cash flow which has allowed us to survive a client going bust, and we've just repaid the last of our loans.
4) ENERGY, ENTHUSIASM AND LAUGHTER
We love to be in Jenn's company. Jenn loves what she does and is great at it.
5) PUTTING FAMILY AND FRIENDS FIRST
All the entrepreneurs who are happipreneurs are surrounded by people they trust and who trust them. Family members and friends work in their businesses. Team members, suppliers and customers become friends. Jenn builds communities and is an ace collaborator and business partner.
Thank you, Jenn 😎
