How can we help?
Which one of these challenges do you think you face most? Is there a challenge you would add? Tell me in the comments. These were a few of the questions I had the privilege of wrestling through alongside faith-inspired fundraisers in February at the Faith & Fundraising Conference hosted by ACF - Association for Christian Fundraising.

Playing sports, especially baseball, is one of the best teachers you will ever have in life. Baseball teaches you to be humble. The “Baseball Gods” don’t like when your head gets too big. The game will be sure to put you back in your place. Baseball teaches you to be a calm boat in choppy water. In order to be successful you must remain even keel in a game full of ups and downs. Baseball teaches you to control the things you can control, and forget the rest. Crush a line drive but right to the shortstop? Nothing you can do about it. Move on. Baseball teaches you that sometimes things just won’t make sense. 4-4 yesterday but 0-4 today? Yep, it happens. Move on. Baseball teaches you to keep moving forward even when all hope seems lost. 0 for your last 15 at bats? Move on, you have 4 more today. Baseball teaches you that you never know what each day will bring. Today could be the day you break the out of your slump, it just depends on your mentality. Baseball teaches you to do the things you don’t want to do. The early morning practices, the late night work outs, 12 hour days at the ball park and all the other cliché’s you want to throw in there. But it’s true. The toughest days often lead to the best ones. All of these situations run parallel to business and to life itself. #baseball #business #sales #sports
Unloading my car last night at the new house. I’ve donated and given away a ton of items that couldn’t make the move. But….. Yes, I brought these 21 bats with me. There’s 17 years of memories in these bats, that tell hundreds of stories. These 21 are what we have left. For those of you who don’t know, I coached travel baseball for 10 years and Jared Welnowski played all his life through college at Hilbert College in Hamburg, NY. Baseball was a huge part of our lives and taught us many life lessons. These bats are reminders of those lessons. I’m going to do something cool with them. I just don’t know what yet. Have a great Sunday everyone 🙏🏻 #baseball

Over the past two years, I've turned down offers at the most recognizable MLB and NFL franchises. Well-respected industry professionals thought they were helping me and giving me good advice by telling me things like, "You'd be crazy not to take this, women's sports are a dead-end with no room for advancement," "let's be real, you're never going to make any money that way," or "you're never going to attain national media recognition unless you work in the NFL." I'm so delighted to say, yet again, with today's news, they couldn't have been more wrong. Michele Kang's $30M donation to U.S. Soccer Federation isn't just a donation - it's part of a comprehensive strategy to revolutionize an entire industry, reshaping a ceiling-less market we're just beginning to tap into. From the $50M Kynisca Innovation Hub focused on female athlete performance research, to her $4M investment in USA Rugby women's sevens, to funding companies designing women-specific athletic gear - she's systematically addressing every aspect of the ecosystem. As the match day face and voice of the Washington Spirit, I'm incredibly grateful and proud to be part of an organization leading the revolution. It's about reimagining what's possible for women so they, like me, don't have to CONSTANTLY be told, even in 2024, that the only "successful" pathways in sports are NFL, MLB or NBA-- leagues and environments which realistically, also are riddled with workplaces that condone sexual harassment, discrimination and more. Let this serve as your reminder to stay true to yourself and your beliefs because the right people will take notice. #WomenInSports #WashingtonSpirit #NWSL #GrowingTheGame #womensfootball #soccernews #womenssoccer #entrepreneur #sportsbusiness
Washington Spirit owner Michele Kang has made a $30 million donation to U.S. Soccer. It's the largest gift in federation history designated for girls’ and women’s soccer. gofos.co/3OmUE0d

It's National Volunteers Week so here's a little story for you.... One of my voluntary roles is the dream job of being Team Manager for my youngest son's rugby team (Pentyrch RFC Under 8s - soon to be Under 9s) One of our coaches got some great raffle prizes for us (a kicking session with Jonny Wilkinson) to raise money for our first tour next year.... I knew Raffall was an online raffle platform as I'd bought tickets on there previously, so I started setting up the raffle but wasn't enjoying the experience, it was a bit clunky... I google'd something like 'Raffall alternatives' and came across Raffaly - a new alternative with ✅ cheaper fees (great for charities where every penny counts!) ✅ guest checkout (making it much easier to buy raffle tickets - higher conversion and sales) Unfortunately I hit some stumbling blocks and page errors. I was on a hard deadline to get the raffle live as I was going on holiday the next day, so I put it live on Raffall but I emailed my bugs and feedback to Raffaly. The founder Liam Walder emailed me back the next day, he'd fixed all the bugs I'd found and thanked me for letting him know.... So, in summary: 1 - You might not have the desire, or time, to volunteer.... 2 - But you can still do good by helping new/small businesses grow by giving them free feedback on your experience and/or sharing them with others - Kindness helps the world go round! 3 - if you'd like to buy raffle tickets to support our team I'd be super grateful (link in original post that I've shared!) #VolunteersWeek #NationalVolunteersWeek #Raffle #RugbyIsLife #RugbyFamily ________________________________________________________________ I'm Heledd and I offer: 🤩 Fractional and Interim Marketing Leadership and Support 🤩 Marketing auditing and consultancy, especially on the Digital Marketing Side 🤩 Training, coaching and mentoring
https://lnkd.in/eJejXY2a We are raising funds for Pentyrch (soon to be) U9s and their first rugby tour this year. As a proud coach of this fabulous bunch of kids, I would like to thank Attivo and Stephen Harper for the support with our fund raising and the generous donations of raffle prizes. If anyone can spare £2.50 for a ticket, us coaches can give all the rugby mums and dads in Pentyrch a night off while we take the guys and girls on tour!

Week two is complete and the weekend has really mixed up the leader board. All teams have managed to reach Glasgow and all but 3 have managed to reach Broadacre North Allerton. Atletico Building Systems still take a clear lead already making it past Manchester Airport, Their progress is so substantial that they could potentially jet off for a few days and still maintain their lead. There is tough competition for second place and the race is on to see who can be the first to see the boys in blue at Everton Stadium, with only 2 miles between teams Completely Floored and Not Fast Just Furious. Walking 9-5 have dropped off slightly leaving 31 miles between them and second place, but I’m sure this will only spur them on. The Pacemakers have benefitted greatly from their transfer and with their new addition they have took a lead over Scrambled legs and are only 9 miles behind 5th place, the Stroll Patrol. Current League Standings (After 11 days of walking) 1. 775m Atletico Building Systems 2. 591m Completely Floored 3. 689m Not fast just Furious 4. 660m Walking 9-5 5. 566m The Stroll Patrol 6. 557m Pace Makers 7. 527m Scrambled Legs 8. 430m Aches & Panes 9. 415m Red Hot Chilli Steppers Top 3 Individual performers at present; 1. 190m Jack Syddall 2. 152m Jamie Woollands 3. 132m Matt Zacharenko We have now reached 86% of our current target of £7,500 on just giving, which is amazing, it is very time consuming and it is amazing to see everyone putting in the effort. Keep up the hard work and get those steps in where possible. https://lnkd.in/eZM4EWHm #Charity #PACT #HorburyGroup #Construction #TeamWork #1346miles

In 2009, our founder Derek Brown started Boxing Out Negativity from the trunk of his car, with one simple mission: give Chicago’s youth a positive outlet through boxing. As the program gained momentum, it moved to his garage, and then a small, underutilized building—growing stronger with each step. Now, we need your help to take things to the next level. We’ve outgrown our current space (featured in a recent documentary shared in this post) which barely fits our growing team and community. With winter temperatures dipping below freezing, we can’t practice outside anymore. We need a secure, indoor space with a boxing ring and room for kids to study, hang out, and stay safe. Recently, our gym was also robbed—but we're not backing down. We’re still standing strong, and with your help, we’ll keep fighting for our kids’ futures. Now, we need YOU. Your support will help us move into a real boxing gym that will be a safe home for our kids all year long. Can we count on you to help us make this next big move? Every donation gets us closer to a safer, warmer, and more positive future. This Giving Tuesday, let’s team up to fight for a brighter tomorrow. Together, we can make it happen. Visit boxingoutnegativity.org/ to donate and learn more. #GivingTuesday #BoxingOutNegativity #FightForChange #YouthEmpowerment #SupportChicago #GivingTuesday #KnockOutNegativity #ChangeLives #StrongerTogether #ChicagoYouth #WestSide #NorthLawndale #GarfieldPark #Austin #LittleVillage

Youth sports, especially high school sports, allow a platform for young adults to learn some valuable life lessons. How to contend with adversity, learn leadership skills, conflict resolution, the value of hard work, being fruitful in your role(whatever that is), team building, rising from failure and handling success. It’s the main reason I enjoy coaching so much within a sport I played and love. Any funds raised from this silent auction will help these kids in that endeavor. To not only be better players, but better people. #RangerPride https://lnkd.in/gy_6RZ7w

The biggest myth in philanthropy is the idea that every big gift must be of high value. Tabitha Trust is a local trust focused on education, faith, and human welfare which funds girl's inclusion in chess around the UK. Small gifts like theirs helped The Way Youth Zone purchase 10 competition clocks for its popular Chess Club, so they will learn how to handle the stress of tournament conditions. A brilliant way to teach soft skills to overcome the internal pressure of classroom tests and examinations. Young people who are involved in chess experience growth in many areas, including self-confidence, social skills, self-awareness, problem-solving, and aspirations. These skills help level the playing field for high-achieving, low-income young people so that they are more likely to become high-achieving adults who may cure cancer, discover a vaccine for malaria, or find life in outer space. The Way is a home from home, serving over 8,000 youth in the last 12 weeks with somewhere safe to go, something to do, something to eat, and someone to talk to. Where is your safe home from home? #wolverhampton #westmidlands #strategiccoach
A huge thank you to the Tabitha Trust for their generous donation to purchase chess clocks for our chess club! Beryl Metcalfe from the Tabitha Trust visited our Youth Zone last week to see our young chess masters in action and bravely challenged one of our Juniors to a game! Chess is a fantastic game for our young people, helping them to develop strategic thinking and planning skills, problem-solving abilities, concentration and focus, and sportsmanship. With the new chess clocks, our club members will be able to practice time management and experience competitive chess under tournament conditions. This will be a valuable addition to their chess development journey.
