My five-year-old had a nightmare, and I couldn’t be more proud. Before you think I’m a total monster, let me explain… When I joined the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency back in May, I was most thrilled to lead the Secure Our World program, which empowers everyone to take actionable steps to stay safe online. One of those key actions we emphasize is recognizing and reporting phishing attempts—essentially, think before you click. Our animated PSA has been a total hit at home (check it out here: https://lnkd.in/gMkfX7-z), and even my five- and eight-year-old know the golden rule: If you don’t trust the link, don’t click it. So when she had a dream that she accidentally clicked a suspicious link, she woke up pretty upset about it! While I certainly don’t want my kids to live in fear of cyber villains, I’m grateful that resources like #SecureOurWorld and Ben Halpert’s Savvy Cyber Kids are sparking important conversations in our home about online safety.
