I joined Glean 4 weeks ago to build the Business Value team and I can say, with confidence, this experience isn't atypical. The average user uses Glean 30 times per week, adoption at many of our customers is over 80%, and new customers reach these levels in 8-12 weeks. The main objection I face with prospects isn't about showing the value of the platform. It's "what are more ways I can use Glean?", "what are your other customers doing with Glean?", or "how can Glean's current capabilities & roadmap solve for these other use cases so I can avoid building or buying vertical GenAI solutions?". Like AJ Tennant, the three things I look for when taking on a new challenge are: Product, People, and Role. AJ Tennant, Aaron Groh, and Neboysa Omcikus are incredible leaders that I learn from daily. They have built a GTM team full of A+ players and all three of them are on the frontlines with their team every day. In my role, I have the opportunity to build out a new function to support a GTM team that has doubled in size the previous 6 months and will double in size again over the next 6 months. 🚀 Wrapping up week 2 as CGO of Kosai, and it continues to be both....terrifying and invigorating 😁 This week I've had the privilege of meeting with Senior Staff Engineers, CEOs, CROs, and CISOs from sectors like Health, Finance, Software & Tech. The input and feedback we’ve received have been both been validating and incredibly encouraging. We are helping people with a problem that genuinely makes a difference for them 🙌 💼 On the flip side, as we continue our entirely Founder-Led approach in what will evolve into a PLG model, I’m starting to wonder about maintaining engagement momentum—especially with the holiday season fast approaching and our product still not public. It's a real challenge, but one I’m excited to tackle. 🏎️ Over the next few weeks, I’ll be focusing on building out the plumbing of our sales and business development machine, ensuring everything is data-driven and scalable. I’m always open to best practice advice from my network, so if you’ve got insights on this, I’d love to hear them! 💡 We’re also at a decision point: Do we invest more in events, ramp up our thought leadership in the press, or double down on refining our OSS security datasheet? As much as I'd love to do it all, we have to be strategic with our resources and stay self-aware. 🕸️ Our early traction has been strong, and we continue to learn and adapt. We’re honing our messaging, especially around solving deep OSS challenges for our ICPs, like securing legacy deployments that are now impractical to maintain internally. The feedback from Platform Engineering and AppSec/CISO teams is helping us sharpen our approach. 🎉 With our eyes set on a seed round and Series A in Q1, we're heading into a pivotal phase. Life is exciting—and, to be honest, the pressure and responsibility are real. 🦁 Just like this safari shot of me working as the tracker on the front of an off-road truck, I'm in a similar phase at Kosai: keeping an eye out for opportunities and spotting the path forward... even if it gets a little bumpy! Two years ago, I moved to the UK for this opportunity, empowered by the strong support and collaborative spirit of our team and culture. I know that I have been super lucky. Throughout this time, I've had the chance to contribute in ways that have been impactful not just for the company, but also for my personal growth. Some highlights of my time at Genie: ✨ I opened up our platform to the public, allowing everyone to explore without needing to sign up, with more to come soon with Ana Robalo! – a huge step in making our technology more accessible. ✨ I built an AI chatbot from scratch with the great support of our wonderful team lead Daniele Tassone! This was my first experience developing a chatbot, and integrating it into our editor to ensure a secure and user-friendly platform was a key priority. ✨ Recently, I worked on our pricing with my awesome backend buddy Giovanni Yacopo Scarioli, focusing on delivering the highest quality results most efficiently and securely. ✨ And now, this investment! Presented yesterday at GenAI meetup. It was a fun event. And with some surprise I realized how my different interests are coming together: • technology hence experimenting actively with GenAI, • product mindset hence strong focus on the purpose of solutions and the value to customers they bring, • lean and startup hence focus on time-to-market, reducing costs where possible and working with really small teams, and • story telling hence trying to make presentation engage people. Wow.
