What is the biggest benefit to having a buffer (recruiter) when negotiating salary and benefits? A buffer is a neutral 3rd party that wants the best for both sides. In every deal, there are elements where one party's gain is the other's loss. If you want a better salary, any gain that you make is an employers loss. It can be tense, you want the best deal possible, but push too hard and you might blow up the whole thing, or harm your relationship with the other party.
