Independence Day inspires us to reflect on freedom and autonomy, especially within the Parkinson's community. How do we support those living with PD in maintaining their independence and dignity? 🎆 Freedom to Choose: Providing choices in daily activities and treatments empowers individuals, giving them control over their lives. 🇺🇸 Community Support: Building a supportive community can help mitigate the feelings of isolation that often accompany Parkinson's. 🎇 Celebrating Achievements: Recognizing and celebrating small victories can boost morale and encourage continued effort and resilience. Let's use this day to advocate for and support the autonomy of our loved ones with Parkinson’s. Share your stories of independence and empowerment in the comments! #IndependenceDay #EmpowerPD #LightForPD #parkinsonsdisease #parkinsons #parkinsonsawareness #parkinsondisease #parkinsonsdiseaseawareness #parkinsonawareness #caregiver #goodnews

https://buff.ly/3wRTepK I do a lot of mediation work where elderly care is in discussion so it's interesting to see similar views on how it works, what it is (and isn't) from across the pond

Harm can come to us in many forms and can be defined in different ways for different people. At Journey Home Hospice, the patients we care for sometimes can experience harm through substance use. Others may have left a situation involving physical harm. No matter the situation, our model of care uses the patient-centred approach of harm reduction in every individualized care plan – meeting patients where they are while providing the necessary end-of-life care. Know your worth. People are not cars. They’re not supposed to be fixed. People are beings, they’re meant to be healed because they’ve been hurt. The thing is, only the individual who has been hurt knows what needs to be healed. Therapists are there to help guide to understanding how and what needs to be healed, not “fix people”. #healtoday #cptsd #narcabuse #codependency #parenting

As your loved one ages, it's common to notice changes in cognitive function. Distinguishing between normal aging and signs of something more serious involves assessing six cognitive domains. Signs differ from person to person, but normal age-related changes are usually infrequent and minor, while warning signs are more noticeable and impactful. When you observe a change in functioning, consider these three factors: 1. Frequency of changes. 2. Previous baseline or “normal” state. 3. Impact on daily life. If you have concerns, consult a doctor early for a thorough assessment to rule out other causes. And if you need support, Home Care Assistance offers expertly trained caregivers to support your loved one's needs no matter where they're at. #homecare #caregiver #inhomecare #independentliving
