When deployed correctly, telestroke programs are cost-effective for both the hub and the spokes and can produce a variety of clinical benefits, including lower 30-day mortality, increased use of tPA, and improved health equity among historically underserved socioeconomic groups. But how does an individual health system measure the impact of its telestroke initiative, especially when there are so many different clinical, financial, and person-centered metrics available to gauge ROI. Here are a few insights from Dr. Matthew Starr (Vascular Neurologist and Associate Director of the UPMC Stroke Institute) in the slideshow below on what key performance indicators to measure and how to build/grow a program that keeps patients in the center of care. To read more from Dr. Matthew Starr and seven additional healthcare leaders with telestroke expertise, you can download the full Telestroke white paper here - https://lnkd.in/gVrhbkJi #telestroke #digitalhealth #ruralcare #healthequity

Here Here Leslie Farrington MD! Thank you for forwarding this along, with your insights on the publication release regarding Ending Unequal Treatment and the marginal impact of Health Equity initiatives over the past 20 years. I am particularly struck by one of the conclusions outlined in the article that highlights "the importance of sustained data collection on racial and ethnic inequities in health care and the need to move away from occasional studies of isolated issues perceived as specific problem areas. To this end, the report recommends that HHS make continual, health care-equity-focused data collection and impact evaluation a routine feature of the health care system." I could not agree more. We need to build more pathways to identify, engage, discuss, compile and synthesize data on health equity barriers and resilience factors that feul sustained change from a systems perspective. Only this kind of data will help the whole body! Thank you so much and let's continue to bond together because we can't eliminate health disparities separate and apart. Have a blessed day! 🤗 #WeArePepin #Agapessom People Empowering People For Inclusion Now (PEP!IN)
ICYMI 20 years after Institute of Medicine published Unequal Treatment there is a new report, Ending Unequal Treatment, summarized by HealthAffairs. https://lnkd.in/eGMRBXiR Conclusion: “…the nation has made minimal progress over the past two decades in eliminating health and health care inequities.” How can there be progress in the current social/political environment? In a feudal society that amounts to #moderndayslavery for half the nation and a system lacking in #personcenteredcare #communitybasedcare #primarycare #diversity and focused on #profitsoverpeople ? #underfundingMedicaid #racisminmedicine #racisminhealthcare Ronald W. Two ways to increase the reach of scientific discoveries: (1) Build hybrid and remote options to increase diversity in clinical trial participation and (2) select high quality, non-generic outcome measures that measure what is truly important to patients.

Deirdre Callis, Sinead Hickey and Grace Callan from the Debra team recently attended the EB Clinet Conference in Vienna, an inspiring event that brought together experts, researchers, healthcare professionals, and advocacy groups from across the world. The conference focused on the latest breakthroughs in EB care, cutting-edge research, and ways we can work together to improve the lives of those living with this rare condition. The event included updates on wound care, gene therapy, and clinical trials, as well as workshops and panel discussions where knowledge and best practices were shared. For Debra, it was a crucial opportunity to ensure that the voices of people living with eb and their families were central to these conversations. As our Head of Research, Sinéad Hickey, explained: “Attending the EB Clinet Conference is essential for Debra. It allows us to connect directly with the global eb community, exchange knowledge, and stay up to date on the latest developments. These conversations help us better support families, advocate for better care, and push forward progress in innovative treatments.” The insights gained from the conference will help us strengthen our advocacy and support initiatives, ensuring we continue to build on the latest advancements in care and research. Collaboration is key, and we’re proud to be part of a community working towards a brighter future for everyone affected by EB.
Why is EB Clinet important for health care professionals working with EB patients? How do we support the medical EB community? We asked some of our contacts to share their thoughts on EB Clinet and are immensly proud on the feedback we could gather. See the video and be inspired to become part of this amazing community! #EBClinet #Epidermolysisbullosa #fightEB #strongertogether

Sharing with First Report Managed Care, “Technology has been the mainstay for tracking and trending patient progress and evaluating value-based care regarding their physical health. The behavioral health community must utilize similar models to receive payments and incentives. An #EHR with specialized behavioral health content, scales, scores, and measurable outcomes is critical to successfully delivering and reimbursing holistic care.” Mary Russell, MJ, BS, RN, #CliniComp’s Senior Director Clinical Implementation.
