YOU KNOW IN YOUR HEART OF HEARTS HE SAID NO MATTER HOW MUCH HE SAYS "FAKE NEWS"! Welcome to the Ultimate Showdown: Conning Conundrum Syndrome vs. Trump Derangement Syndrome! In one corner, we have... Conning Conundrum Syndrome (CCS)! - Symptoms: Unshakable loyalty, denial reflex, and the blame game shuffle. Victims insist they haven't been conned by Trump and Putin, despite overwhelming evidence that could make a blindfolded jury shout "Guilty!" And in the other corner, we have... Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS)! - Symptoms: Uncontrollable eye-rolling at the mention of Trump, spontaneous fits of fact-checking, and an intense urge to debunk every tweet. Accused sufferers vehemently oppose Trump, sometimes with a fervor that rivals a sports fan during the playoffs. CCS - "Conning Conundrum Syndrome" is like having a GPS that stubbornly refuses to recalibrate. You're headed for a cliff, but it keeps saying, "Turn right in 100 feet." You’re convinced the destination is glorious, but spoiler alert: it’s a steep drop into reality. TDS - "Trump Derangement Syndrome" is like having a highly sensitive radar that detects every single Trump-related blip, no matter how small. You’re hyper-aware of every move, comment, and typo, often resulting in high blood pressure and a sudden urge to tweet. Denial vs. Obsession - CCS: "No way, Trump’s perfect!" - TDS: "No way, Trump’s terrible!" Blame Game vs. Blame Flame - CCS: "What about those emails?" - TDS: "What about that tax return?" Loyalty vs. Paranoia - CCS: "Trump could do no wrong." - TDS: "Trump can do no right." The Hilarious Hypocrisy: - CCS sufferers are like fans at a magic show, utterly convinced that the magician’s tricks are real, while TDS sufferers are the skeptics yelling, "I see the wires!" - CCS Remedy: "Come on, admitting you've been conned isn't that bad. Think of it like realizing the magician pulls rabbits out of hats, not thin air." - TDS Remedy: "Hey, take a breath. Sometimes it’s okay to let a tweet pass by without a full investigation. Not every blip is a bombshell." In the grand scheme of things, both CCS and TDS could use a little bit of perspective, a dash of humor, and a lot less stress. After all, life’s too short to be stuck in a syndrome, right? So, whether you’re staunchly defending or constantly critiquing, remember to laugh along the way. Because in the end, we’re all just trying to navigate this crazy world, one conundrum at a time.
We remember and honor the sacrifices made by American men and women throughout history this #MemorialDay. We also firmly denounce the disgraced former president who besmirches their memory by calling them "suckers and losers."

It's truly disheartening to see the recent actions taken by the House to tack on culture war amendments to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The House Armed Services Committee dedicated significant time and effort to address crucial quality of life issues affecting our servicemembers. They listened to senior enlisted leaders from each service, aiming to improve the lives of those who defend our nation. Instead of respecting this bipartisan effort, some House members chose to derail the measure with amendments that have nothing to do with national security. These amendments, which aim to deny medical care and dismantle offices dedicated to fighting discrimination, are a slap in the face to those who have put their lives on the line for this country. Military service has always been a pathway for marginalized and disadvantaged communities to prove themselves and earn their way into the middle class. Now, Republicans are working to shut these doors of opportunity, hurting those who serve our nation with honor and courage. It doesn't matter if you agree with someone's lifestyle. If they've served in the military, they've earned the right to live their life as they see fit. It's disgraceful that politicians are using the NDAA to push a divisive agenda that undermines the very people who make our freedoms possible. These servicemembers deserve our respect, our support, and the resources they need to thrive. They should not be pawns in a political game. As a country, we stand for liberty, justice, and the pursuit of happiness. It’s appalling to see political points scored at the expense of servicemembers, veterans, and military families. This behavior is not only shameful but a betrayal of our national values.

Time to address the elephant in the room, because change is here, whether some want it or not. As Barbara F. Walter highlighted in her TED Talk, "The people who tend to start civil wars, especially ethnically-based civil wars, are the groups that had once been politically dominant but are in decline." This insight strikes a deep chord when we look at the current landscape of the U.S. In the U.S., the rise of militias, primarily driven by white men who see America's changing identity as a direct threat to their status, is alarming. These were the same individuals who marched on the Capitol on January 6. Their tactics to preserve dominance are insidious and multifaceted, in attempts to manipulate the system using institutions like the Supreme Court to do their dirty work by: ** Taking Away Reproductive Rights: The assault on women's reproductive rights is a blatant effort to control and subjugate women. ** Attempting To Make Interracial Marriages: There are even attempts to roll back progress by challenging the legality of interracial marriages. ** Installing Minority Puppet Leaders: Installing minority leaders who will act as pawns to keep their communities in check is another insidious tactic. So, why is this happening now? As Walter puts it, "It's happening now because of demographic change." The shifting demographics of the country are seen as a threat by those who once held unchallenged power. To address this potential slide into anocracy, Walter suggests, "We have to improve the rule of law. We have to ensure equal access to every citizen to the vote. We have to reduce corruption and we have to improve the quality of government services." However, reforming a government is a monumental task. It takes time and often seems impossible. This is exactly where the U.S finds itself today, almost paralyzed. Change is coming, and while it may be met with resistance, it is ultimately for the betterment of all. I see this as a pivotal moment. What are your thoughts? WHAT IS AN ANOCRACY GOVERNMENT? Anocracy, or semi-democracy, is a form of government that is loosely defined as part democracy and part dictatorship, or as a "regime that mixes democratic with autocratic features." https://lnkd.in/eMAw46P6

this by Jennifer Pahlka, if you are grappling with how to secure medium-term, systems-shifting outcomes (sustainability, innovation in government+++) is wonderful. She describes (e.g.,) how public-sector recruitment has become: "...a prescribed set of procedures that are meant to appear objective but have become intricate, convoluted and at times nonsensical....only candidates with inside knowledge...can successfully navigate this highly specialized system." It's dead on, not just because it's an accurate critique, but because it captures the positive intent behind these efforts, and the reality of complex systems/wicked problems - where it's very hard to overcome the stabilizing effect of the system because there are many, non-malign, feedback loops that constrain what mechanistic interventions can accomplish. Anne White, Jason Pearman and I were talking yesterday about linking foresight-informed objectives (not this-years tomatoes, but a home-grown mix of vegetables in a garden) to the short-term (till the soil today, so that you can start to learn what grows where) - but also about why you need to push on the smaller problems to learn about how those stabilizer effects work, so that you can learn how to achieve the bigger goals. In public sector innovation, you can't wish away the systems. You have to operate them - because that's what exists - but without clarity on that objective (home-grown vegetables) you lose sight of the fact that you are experimenting and innovating (tilling, this years crop) mostly to learn - not to find the....Death Star tomato. Great stuff. Thanks Jennifer Pahlka (and always, Giulio Quaggiotto for keeping us informed!) #innovation #systemschange #publicsectorinnovation #
