In June 2024, CMB published its third Sustainability Report, covering the year 2023. Sustainability now represents a strategic driver for orientation and industrial development for CMB, which has fully integrated it into the 2024-2026 Industrial and Sustainability Plan. Among the main elements to note compared to previous years, in 2023 CMB paid greater attention to the use of energy resources in its activities, using technologies capable of measuring and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, obtaining ESCo and ISO 50001 certifications. Last year was also very important in terms of Gender Equality, both culturally and systemically, with a commitment to improving employee well-being. These activities led to the acquisition of the UNI/PdR 125:2022 Gender Equality Certification in the first months of 2024, achieving one of the goals set within the company's Sustainability Plan.

GESI approach and Net-Zero roadmap It's been a month since my friends and I represented ABG Leadership Institute to participate in Young Ambassadors Program 2024 organized by The Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries, and Food Security (CTI-CFF) in Bangkok, in September. Here are two keywords that I had learned from the amazing speakers and the young talents during workshop that shaped my mindset about sustainability development. - GESI: Gender Equality and Social Inclusion. When developing any projects, make sure you consider all genders and social groups, especially marginalized ones. - Net-Zero Roadmap: Every organizations that I visited in Bangkok have their own roadmap to achieve net-zero. It impressed me especially when Vietnam has committed to the Net-Zero target in 2050, but not many public or private organizations has shown their specific and clear roadmap, as I have watched. So, next time, when introduce about my organization, I surely will add two parts about GESI approach and Net-Zero roadmap.

📖 I have just completed the course “Gender and Sustainable Industrial Development” offered by UN Women Training Centre. This enriching program delved into the critical intersection of gender equality and sustainable development, with a particular focus on industrial development. What I learned: - The role of gender equality and women’s empowerment in driving ISID-related interventions. - The importance of integrating gender into industrial policies, trade, investment, and innovation to boost women’s economic participation. - How gender is essential for promoting quality standards and serves as a foundation for green industries and economies. - The significance of multilateral environmental agreements and gender-responsive approaches in sustainable energy and agribusiness. - A detailed understanding of UNIDO’s gender mainstreaming policy and strategy, including its application throughout the project cycle. 💡 This course has deepened my understanding of how promoting gender equality within industries is pivotal to achieving sustainable and inclusive development. An approach that's relevant to my work. Integrating gender equality into sustainable industrial development isn’t just about creating opportunities—it’s about unlocking untapped potential for transformative economic, social, and environmental progress. 🚀 Let’s continue building a world where gender equality fuels sustainability and innovation! #GenderEquality #SustainableDevelopment #InclusiveEconomics #ISID #WomenEmpowerment #GreenEconomy

Gender diversity within the energy transition in Europe is crucial for driving innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity. As we navigate towards a greener future, diverse perspectives and talents are essential for addressing complex challenges and developing holistic solutions. Women bring unique insights and skills to the energy sector, enriching decision-making processes and fostering creativity. By promoting gender diversity, we can unlock untapped potential, leading to more efficient operations and pioneering advancements in sustainable energy technologies. Research shows that companies with diverse leadership teams outperform their competitors, underscoring the business case for gender equality in the energy transition. Embracing diversity not only enhances corporate reputation but also strengthens resilience and adaptability in a rapidly evolving industry. To accelerate progress towards a more equitable energy landscape, it's imperative to dismantle barriers to entry, promote mentorship opportunities, and advocate for equal representation at all levels of the energy sector. By championing gender diversity, we can build a more inclusive and forward-thinking energy transition that benefits society as a whole. #GenderDiversity #EnergyTransition #SustainabilityInEurope

Promoting gender equality is crucial in climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts. The complex challenges posed by climate change, pollution and biodiversity loss call for a holistic and cross-sectoral approach that acknowledges the intricate interplay between gender and climate action and disaster management. While the green transition offers new job opportunities, it is important to address existing structural imbalances in the workplace and leadership roles to ensure benefits are distributed equally. How can governments simultaneously drive action for gender equality and transformative climate action? 1️⃣ Mainstream gender equality into policies and strategies integral to the net-zero transition. 2️⃣ Promote the attractiveness and inclusiveness of the economic opportunities offered by the green transition. 3️⃣ Advance gender equality in leadership and decision-making to ensure inclusive outcomes amid the green transition. 4️⃣ Amplifying women’s voices on environmental-related issues through environmental justice. 5️⃣ Promote policies to ensure gender-inclusive sustainable consumption – especially with respect to participation in sustainable modes of transportation. Thanks so much to our speakers for joining us today for our two sessions at the inaugural OECD - OCDE Forum on Gender Equality focused on the net-zero and energy transitions. We were joined in Session 1 by Jo Tyndall, Francia Elena Marquez Mina, Maria-Alexandra Kefala, Princess Nous bint Muhammad bin Abdullah AlSaud, Elise Buckle, Dr. Hans-Jörn Weddige and Chiara Corazza. On the topic of mainstreaming gender equality in environmental policy, we enjoyed a lively discussion on the barriers to gender equality in certain communities, including development issues that need to be addressed first, to ensure gender equality in net-zero transitions. We also explored avenues for women to access economic opportunities and leadership roles in advancing green economic activities for climate mitigation and adaptation, and ecosystems protection. In session 2 we heard key insights from Brian Motherway, Michal Mlynár, Fiona Rayment OBE FREng, Chris Henderson, Alison Tate and Silvana Koch-Mehrin on the key challenges for gender equality in the context of the energy sector’s transformation.
