At ZED, seven core values guide everything we do... how we approach and navigate new opportunities and challenges, how we engage with and support our clients, and how we interact and work with each other. These values are: Leadership – acting with courage and influence and doing what is right, and encouraging others to do the same. Excellence – striving for the best possible outcomes, and actively seeking opportunities for growth and improvement. Communication – communicating openly and often with clarity and consistency. Ownership – owning our decisions and actions, and empowering others to do the same. Empathy – seeking to understand and value each other’s experiences and point of view. Collaboration – working as a team to combine strengths, experience, and ideas to find optimum solutions. And of course, Enjoyment… It’s not all work and no play at ZED, we also make sure we celebrate and reward our hard work and accomplishments by creating regular opportunities to come together socially as a team. As part of our regular team meetings, we each share examples of how another team member has recently demonstrated one or more of ZED’s values. This recognises their efforts and contributions, and ensures our values remain front of mind in how we work. #ZEDMC #ValueDriven #WorkplaceValues #TeamRecognition

(Heads-up: The attachment contains some strong language, but it makes an important point.) People, People, People. The premise and foundation of any successful organization. If only this wasn't just a catchy phrase but a core value that corporations truly embraced. In my experience, investing in employees, fostering loyalty, and prioritizing training and development are not just HR initiatives—they're essential to building a thriving business. For instance, companies that invest in employee training see a 24% higher profit margin than those that don’t. Imagine a workplace where people are valued and supported every step of the way. Share your experiences and thoughts! #Leadership #EmployeeDevelopment #CorporateCulture #InvestInPeople

I truly believe that the continuity of a great team in business trumps everything. It’s just like in sports, a team that has been playing together for a long time usually beats a group of superstars that came together for just a season.

Great insight from Pep Lijnders in this interview, providing a clear picture of his priorities and the principles he believes are essential for achieving success in football. It outlines a strong process where winning, player development, and exciting football are complementary commitments. "80% of the points are made in the training week." From my perspective, developing a team requires a thoughtful examination of the club’s culture. It revolves around creating a model that balances the complexity of the game with a clear and shared vision. Valuing diverse perspectives, especially those from players, and constantly questioning our assumptions are fundamental to our progress. Our understanding of the game, like life, relies on models—interpretations shaped by our assumptions and experiences. There is no single right way to approach football. You have a way; I have a way. What’s crucial is embracing vulnerability, recognizing that compassion and winning are not mutually exclusive. It’s about discovering what truly works for you and your team. Embracing uncertainty is key. We should allow the team to emerge organically through player interactions, all while being guided by our shared intentions. Developing a collective culture means aligning the diverse perspectives of our players with our overarching vision, while remaining flexible and adaptable. Even subtle changes within the team can significantly impact the whole, and understanding this dynamic is essential. Feedback, both from player interactions and overall team performance, should continuously guide and refine our approach. By systematically addressing the collective-individual and performance-recovery dilemmas, we can enhance the resilience and effectiveness of the team. To maintain these qualities, it’s crucial to deepen our understanding, manage the inherent complexity, and ensure our approach remains effective. #PlayerDevelopment #Values #Perspective #PepLijnders

Systems are comprised of elements, interconnections (rules, flows), and purpose. Elements are the easiest to see and also the easiest to adjust without having a tremendous impact. But change the PURPOSE of the system and the change is profound, even if the elements and interconnections remain the same. What if the purpose of a football team was to lose the game? The rules and players stay the same, but their goal is no longer to win but to lose. I am reading "Thinking in Systems" by Donella H. Meadows & this concept has been rolling around in my head a lot these days. Purpose and vision are critical to your team's success, after all, your team is probably your most important system. 😊
