Telefónica Germany has embraced full cloud-native transformation, recognizing the value and opportunity presented by cloud-native and 5G Standalone (SA). I’m pleased they trusted our expertise and valued our existing partnership in helping them leverage the value of cloud-native. This involved migrating 45 million subscribers onto dual-mode 5G Core on the Ericsson Cloud infrastructure, which facilitated the smooth implementation of 5G SA capabilities. It also included testing functionalities like Network Slicing. We also helped them to move closer to their goal of embracing automation to manage frequent software upgrades and react to market demands. NGMN’s “Cloud Native Manifesto: An Operator View” provides key principles and requirements for Cloud Native Telecom from an operator’s point of view and the focus required by the industry in order to accelerate the adoption of cloud native solutions in mobile networks.
