A Memorable Conversation on Life and Career ChoicesYesterday, I had the pleasure of attending a birthday party, where I met many wonderful people. Among them, one lady stood out—she was the eldest in the gathering, and her wisdom truly left an impact on me.As we chatted, she shared her journey of raising a 5-year-old child and the ups and downs that came with it. Her experience, full of resilience and dedication, was a reminder of the importance of balance in both family and work life. What struck me the most was her insight into the differences between a government job and a private job. She explained how each path has its own set of benefits and challenges, and how making a thoughtful choice today can shape our future in ways we may not even realize. This conversation reminded me of how valuable it is to listen to the experiences of others, especially those who have walked different paths than our own. It’s these moments of reflection that help us make more informed decisions for our lives. #CareerAdvice #LifeLessons #WorkLifeBalance #GovernmentJobVsPrivateJob #LearningFromOthers #CareerChoices #GrowthMindset #ParentingAndCareer #PersonalGrowth #ProfessionalDevelopment

Life can get crazy busy, but it's important to remember why we do what we do. If we say we're doing it for our family, but we're never home or with them, we're lying to ourselves. Intentions are great, but actions speak louder than words. We choose the career and life we live, so let's own it. But don't forget to take time for those you love. Be the father and husband you vowed to be. And ladies, remember that you chose to be the woman you are and committed to your role, so own it. No rules on what role you take just own it. Let's prioritize our loved ones and be present for them. #familyfirst #priorities #worklifebalance

Some might see it as career suicide 😬, but I recently decided to just enjoy life 😌. They might even think I’m a bit crazy 🤪, but few ever truly get this chance. 🏆 Since then, I've: → Embraced the present, enjoying mum life without work stress. → Taken countless swims and dog walks (not swimming with the dog!). → Cherished moments with mum and my daughter - witnessing the special bond with her nanny. → Let go of business image pressures. → Finally had time to decorate/do DIY on my home, even painting the yard pink soon! 🎨 → Splurged on home goods, making this 30-something woman very happy. → Booked a beach holiday for some sun and cocktails🍹 → Toying with the idea of a master’s degree (keeping it hush-hush for now). My mind was always racing, denying me peace 😔 Stressed, and reminiscent of maternity leave in 2019 🤰🏻 Sometimes, joy fades, prompting soul-searching 🤷🏻♀️ Why do career breaks remain a silent topic? 🤔 Why is it that we rarely hear about taking breaks from our careers? 🤷♀️ Whether it's for self-care, personal growth, or simply to recharge, career breaks are valuable. #LivingMyBestLife #SelfReflection #NewBeginnings

The last four years have been the hardest in my life. I’ve been a working woman for 14 years and a working mom for the past four, and I often feel a strong sense of guilt. 😔 I know many working parents feel the same way. There have been times when I’ve thought about quitting my job to spend more time with my kids. But I haven’t done it yet. Why? 🤔 As my children grow, they will naturally seek their independence. I worry that if I step back from my career now, I might lose my professional edge, my drive, and the motivation to re-enter the workforce. 😟 What if I take a break and find it hard to return to my career? What if I invest time away from my professional life and find that I no longer fit into my field? The thought of reaching a dead end, where I feel unneeded and undervalued, is unpleasant. 😱 Do I sound selfish? Maybe. Am I wrong to think this way? Could be. 🤷♀️ Sometimes we quit because we have to, and other times we quit because we want to. I’m fortunate to have a support system that allows me to make my own choices. 💪 I choose to keep trying to balance my job with my kids' needs, knowing it won’t always be easy. So, how do I handle these feelings? I try to spend quality time with my kids without any distractions after work. Whether it’s storytelling, watching TV together, or joining them in outdoor play, I cherish those moments. 🌟 At the same time, I’m still searching for answers, and I know I’m not alone. 🤝 How do you navigate these feelings in your life? #WorkingMoms #WorkLifeBalance #WorkingParents #ProfessionalGrowth #CareerDevelopment

The summer holidays are drawing to a close, and we’re ready to start our next chapter. My daughter is beginning her final year of secondary school, and my son is starting his own secondary journey. Balancing a career I’m passionate about with the joys and responsibilities of life has been both an honour and a juggling act. My career in the learning disability sector began when I returned from maternity leave in 2010, a new mum determined to make my mark while nurturing my family. Over the years, I’ve risen from senior manager to CEO, all while growing my family and remaining dedicated to my roles as a parent, partner, and professional. It’s important to recognise that working full-time doesn’t diminish our personal roles—whether as parents, caregivers, or individuals with passions and responsibilities outside of work. In fact, it enriches them. The resilience, dedication, and passion we bring to our work are the same qualities that shape our personal lives. I’m incredibly proud of the well-rounded, brilliant individuals my children are becoming—not in spite of my career, but alongside it. As my children embark on their own educational journeys, I’m reminded of the countless others who are managing this delicate balance in their own unique ways. Whether you’re just starting out or have been walking this path for years, know that your dedication is seen and respected. We juggle meetings and responsibilities, deadlines and personal time, often feeling like we’re constantly moving pieces on a complex chessboard. To all those who share this journey, past and present: I see you. I respect you. And I’m inspired by you. Let’s continue to support one another, lifting each other up in this shared experience of striving, loving, and leading by example—for ourselves, for our colleagues, and for those we care about. Here’s to embracing every role we play, knowing that we are enough in each one. #Leadership #CareerAndLife #WomenInLeadership #CEO #WorkLifeBalance #Inspiration #Respect #LearningDisability #WomenInBusiness #CareerGrowth

"The Two Phases of a Woman's Journey: Balancing Ambition and Love" Life as a woman often transitions through meaningful phases, each adding to her strength. This image reflects a story many of us can relate to. In the first phase, she’s focused on her career, building her professional identity, and chasing her ambitions. It’s a time to grow, learn, and make her mark. In the second phase, priorities shift. She steps into a nurturing role, choosing to raise her child and embrace the responsibilities of family life. It’s not a pause but a conscious decision to focus on what matters most in that moment. As a Social Media Manager working from home, I’m inspired by the ability to balance both worlds—nurturing my family while pursuing a career I love. Both phases deserve equal respect, as they reflect dedication and purpose. What’s your take on balancing different roles in life? #SocialMediaManager #WomenEmpowerment #LifeBalance #CareerAndFamily

As working professionals, we often find ourselves walking the tightrope between career ambitions and the joys of parenthood. It’s a balancing act that requires skill, patience, and a fair share of grace. In my own journey, I’ve discovered that being both a dedicated employee and a loving parent isn’t about finding a perfect balance, but rather about making meaningful choices each day. It’s about the quality of time, not just the quantity. It’s about being fully present, whether I’m finalizing a project or reading a bedtime story. Here are some insights I’ve gained along the way: Flexibility is Key: Embracing a flexible mindset allows me to adapt to the unexpected twists and turns of both work and family life. Setting Boundaries: Clear boundaries help me switch gears between professional responsibilities and home life, ensuring I give my best to both. Support Systems Matter: Whether it’s a helpful colleague or a family member, having a strong support system is invaluable. Celebrating Small Wins: Every completed task at work and every shared laugh with my children are victories worth celebrating. To my fellow working parents, let’s continue to support each other, share our strategies, and celebrate our dual roles. We’re not just building careers; we’re raising the future. #WorkingParent #CareerAndFamily #WorkLifeIntegration #ParentingInProfession

Thankful Thursday Reflection Yesterday, I took the day off to chaperone my son’s field trip. Although the chaos of field trips and middle schooler shenanigans may not be the most enjoyable experience, I recognize just how THANKFUL I am for the opportunity to embrace the fleeting nature of these moments and the importance of being present in my son's memories. As a working mom, I strive to create those lasting memories and avoid my children feeling like I'm always working. However, I have often gone to extremes to be present in their lives, juggling multiple roles and feeling guilty for taking time off work. This self-imposed pressure can be overwhelming. I know many women and mothers face similar challenges, trying to balance work and family commitments. In some cases, the stress has led women to downshift or even leave their careers. It is so important for companies to recognize the pressures faced by working mothers and create supportive environments. My job is something I enjoy doing and am good at, but it doesn’t define my existence. Over the years, I have learned to set boundaries and prioritize family time without compromising my work performance. When I returned to the workforce after becoming a mom, I found it challenging to step away and put my family first, but with the support of my manager and mentors, I found a healthy work-life balance. I am grateful to be part of a company culture that not only supports this balance, but encourages it! #thankfulthursday #lovewhereyouwork #workingmom
