They develop emission-free, digitally networked fuel cell systems for industrial applications such as intralogistics or as stationary power and emergency generators. 🤍 HyTerra was the first company to list on the Australian stock exchange market (ASX) with a focus on white hydrogen, which is generated naturally by the Earth. White hydrogen potentially has much lower production costs and carbon emissions than man-made hydrogen. 💧 Stargate Hydrogen focuses on accelerating the global transition to a zero-carbon economy by creating reliable and profitable green hydrogen solutions. For that, they offer innovative stacks and electrolyser systems for the production of green hydrogen. ⛽TURN2X is on a mission to make renewable natural gas (RNG) economically viable as a replacement for fossil natural gas. By introducing RNG as a sustainable alternative, they seeks to displace all fossil fuels, starting with fossil natural gas, and enable rapid decarbonization of hard-to-abate sectors. By understanding how nature works so intelligently embedded in the creation itself, these Australian researchers cracked how to design a devise for creating green hydrogen with whopping 95% efficiency. Hysata has developed a new, highly efficient electrolyzer that promises to transform the economics of green hydrogen production. The electrolyzer, known as a ‘capillary-fed electrolyzer’ (or CFE) improves the efficiency from 75 per cent for existing commercial electrolyzers, to 95 per cent. The electrolyzer is also coupled with a simplified balance of plant engineering that further reduces costs. The Project will develop, manufacture and demonstrate a modular 200 kW stack and associated equipment as a grid components, which can be combined to build MW/GW electrolysers. The 200 kW demonstrator stack and balance of plant will be trialed for six months with a commercial partner and subsequently shipped to Forschungszentrum Jülich in Germany for a further six-month trial to independently verify the performance of the electrolyzer. Once tested and verified, the intent is to replicate the 200 kW capillary-fed water electrolyzer and balance of plant as a module for larger deployment on the pathway to commercialization. The achievement could see the Morrison government’s so-called hydrogen stretch goal of $2 a kilogram to make the fuel competitive reached as soon as 2025. The central challenge was to reduce the electrical resistance within the electrolysis cell. Much like a smart phone battery warming as it charges, resistance wasted energy in a regular cell as well as often requiring additional energy for cooling. They used readily available materials to develop a thin sponge-like membrane to suck the water up between two electrodes. The avoidance of creating bubbles was also key. So a combination of that wicking membrane and that bubble-free operation resulted in inherently low resistance. Hydrogen could be produced using 41.5 kilowatt-hours of electricity per kilogram. For hydrogen producers, this will significantly reduce both the capital and operational costs to produce green hydrogen. #climatechange #hydrogeneconomy #watervehicles

This initiative brings together ports, universities and innovation hubs to accelerate the development and adoption of hydrogen technologies worldwide. We were honored to have Ingo Fehrs from the Port of Hamburg and Johannes Steinrück, industrial engineer of hydrogen storage startup Akros Energy, as our guest speakers guiding a vibrant discussion on the future of hydrogen. We’ve known about hydrogen’s potential for decades. Yet H2 hasn't lived up to its promise so far. Today, Hydrosonics, a spinout from Los Alamos National Laboratory, announced it has raised nearly $1M in pre-seed and non-dilutive funding to fuel their effort to finally deliver on that promise. We led Hydrosonics’ Pre-Seed along with Dangerous Ventures, because Luis Chavez may have finally cracked the code on clean, affordable, and scalable green hydrogen. Historically, green hydrogen has always been too expensive and other forms of hydrogen have been too dirty — a by-product of carbon-intensive natural gas extraction. Luis has pioneered an acoustics technology that could finally unlock this market. REINVEST 2024: A Step Closer to India's Renewable Future The recently concluded REINVEST 2024, inaugurated by our Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, brought together global delegates to showcase India’s leadership in the renewable energy (RE) sector. With ₹32.45 lakh crore in investment commitments and an ambitious vision to achieve 500 GW of renewable capacity by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2070, this event was truly a landmark moment in India's energy transition. Reflecting on REINVEST 2024 reminded me of a program I had the privilege of organizing recently, where I witnessed several Greentech startups present their innovative solutions for the RE sector. It was inspiring to see their ideas and dedication towards building a cleaner, greener future. The event was a convergence of government stakeholders, renowned academic institutions, corporates, and investors—all driven by a common goal of transforming the energy landscape. I firmly believe that as we march towards these ambitious targets, startups and MSMEs will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the renewable energy ecosystem. Their innovation, agility, and solutions will be key to achieving India’s goals of 500 GW of renewable capacity and net-zero emissions. Here are three successful climate tech funding rounds that you may have missed in recent weeks💰 🏭 Reverion raised an impressive $62 million in Series A funding for its biogas power plants. Its patented technology is paving the way to 100% renewable energy by using the full potential of biogas. This funding will enable Reverion to begin serial production of its power plants and meet over $100 million in customer pre-orders collected to date. 💨 Berlin-based Ucaneo secured €6.75 million in seed funding for its direct air capture (DAC) technologies for CO2 removal. The capital will accelerate the construction of one of the largest DAC testing and development facilities in Germany. Ucaneo will also be developing its first industrial product supporting the company's mission to remove 0.5 GT of CO2 from the air by 2035. 🌊 Brineworks, an Amsterdam-based startup developing the world's most efficient seawater electrolyser, raised €2 million in funding. Brineworks' seawater electrolyser enables industry-leading CO2 extraction with its high-efficiency design while co-producing green hydrogen (H2) at a low cost. This new investment will help accelerate its technical development and will be key to deploying its first technical pilot project.
