No new article this week. But, I met some great people this week, and something good will come through! On another positive note, Janky lives, and is running Ubuntu 24.04! There are great new features to this version, but it's just awesome to have this old machine run without sounding like its going to take off, explode, or both. Not up on Ubuntu? Check out my previous articles while I shift the cards to my other hand without you noticing the magic: https://lnkd.in/gEZjGbAS https://lnkd.in/gsJHgNQC

Stripped of all theory and verbiage, what does Ubuntu practice truly look like? I’m finding out this week. While I’ve attended many conferences and workshops, this program is a first for me. I may be stepping out of my depth, certainly comfort zone, but I’m excited to focus on practicing Ubuntu and for once, locking aside the theory. #ubuntu #InstituteforUbuntuThought&Practice

You can join remotely and watch the second day of the Ubuntu Summit right here. The Ubuntu Summit for the last two years has served as a showcase for the innovative and the ambitious. We aim to shine a light on those who are not satisfied with the status quo by giving the stage to the experts, the builders, the engineers, and the tinkerers who demonstrate that excellent engineering can be done in the open. By elevating these voices through the Ubuntu Summit, we hope to drive forward our collective mission to build the future with open source software. Let's celebrate the spirit of Ubuntu — I am what I am because of who we all are. https://lnkd.in/eiur2-aB

#DAY_14 Getting my hands and brain together here. Trying to write test files for each module of my API. I'm not really sure why the request works on my ubuntu terminal but doesn't return any cool answer when using the unittest module for testing. That's something I'm still working on. #ALX_SE #100daysofALXSE #DoHardThings #100DaysOfCode

Well, dreams are turning into reality with the upcoming Ubuntu 24.10.0 release! 🌟 Gone are the days of staring at mundane text as you install your packages. My current system runs APT 2.0.10, which is pretty basic - honestly, it's a TLDR (TOO LONG DIDN'T READ) affair when installing a package. But the story is about to change. Ubuntu 24.10.0 introduces a groundbreaking update to APT. We're talking about a tool that’s not only powerful but also colorful and insightful. No more third-party dependencies to make your terminal bloom; APT itself is stepping up! So, keep your fingers crossed and stay tuned. Ubuntu 24.10.0 is set to transform our CLI experiences into a vivid journey. #Ubuntu #APTUpdate #TechNews #OpenSource #Innovation #SoftwareDevelopment #Zextras #Carbonio Courtesy: 🔗 Heartfelt thanks to OMG! 🚀 Struggling with compatibility issues in ROS? 🚀 Ever encountered a GitHub repository that's perfect for your problem but outdated and incompatible with your current OS? I recently faced this challenge while trying to use a ROS Melodic package on Ubuntu 22.04. To overcome this, I delved into Docker, a powerful tool that allowed me to run ROS Melodic seamlessly on my system. I also discovered some tricks to get GUI tools like RViz working within the Docker container. I’ve compiled all my insights into a video to help others in similar situations: Watch it here ---> https://lnkd.in/gGeuuBjU ! Happy Engineers Day to all the brilliant minds out there! 🎉 #ROS #DOCKER #SIMULATION
