Just a few months after completing my bachelor's thesis, I received the thrilling news that my work, titled "Credit Ratings and Capital Structure: An Analysis of Corporate Financing", has been nominated for the DKS Award. This recognition is incredibly humbling and motivates me to further my academic research journey. 🔍 My thesis explored the intricate relationship between credit rating changes and firms' capital structure decisions across U.S. firms from 2003 to 2017. The findings reveal that firms actively adjust their debt issuance to avoid downgrades in credit ratings, particularly small firms which show a more pronounced reaction to potential downgrades. 💡 Key Insights: ◾ Firms are more likely to decrease debt to avoid downgrades rather than to achieve upgrades. ◾ Small-sized firms are particularly sensitive to changes, altering their capital structures significantly to maintain their credit ratings. ◾ The strategic behavior of these firms underscores the crucial role of credit ratings in financial decision-making and market stability. This study not only re-examines the validity of the Credit Rating – Capital Structure Model but also contributes new insights into how firm size and credit rating expectations influence financial strategies. 🚀 Exciting Announcement 🚀 At Institute of Management Development and Research (IMDR) ,Pune, learning transcends beyond the confines of the classroom. Our vibrant learning atmosphere fosters growth and development through internships, research work, industrial visits, event coordination, and much more. I am delighted to share that our research paper titled 'Exploring Algorithmic Solutions for Effective Decisions Concerning Investments in Equity Stocks Amidst Financial Disruptions Using the COVID-19 and Sub-prime Crises as Case Studies' has been successfully published in Australasian Accounting Business & Finance Journal. The journal is ABDC-B listed and Scopus indexed. This paper, co-authored by myself along with the talented students Hemangi Borawake and Tanishq Ranjane, represents a culmination of dedicated efforts and meticulous research. I am proud of the unwavering commitment and outstanding contributions demonstrated by both Hemangi and Tanishq throughout the research process. Every subject at IMDR is approached with a content-rich participatory learning pedagogy, ensuring that all students, regardless of their pace, receive tailored support and guidance. This inclusive approach to education empowers fast learners and nurtures a culture of continuous learning and growth.
