CSIO's Commercial Lines (CL) Working Group continued to advance CL Data Standards in 2023 by publishing business requirements to quote and bind three additional CL industry segments: hospitality, health services and warehousing. That brings the total number of industry segments with published CL Data Standards to seven. The CL Working Group is currently working on defining the business requirements for four more industry segments: Wholesale Services, Manufacturing/Processing Services, Education Services, and Member Organization Services. Headlining this week's CHC Newsflash: I’m very pleased to share a summary of the MAT Q1 2024 update from DB6, drafted by my colleague Kayleigh and her outstanding DB6 team. The store retail CHC market grew by 4.4% globally in the 12 months to end-March 2024, which represents a slowdown from year-end 2023 (+4.9%). The evidence is overwhelming that growth rates in our industry – which will decline in 2024 – will be driven by price increases not volume. This is unsustainable when our distribution partners are keen to cut inventories. Squaring the circle will require investing in new products and increased marketing & sales at a time when shareholders demand higher profitability. This will be our greatest challenge in the next 2-3 years unless we can find new sources of growth and marketing synergies. I foresee anxious but interesting times ahead.
