Science Based Targets initiative has launched 2 reports on Beyond Value Chain Mitigation. Reducing your scope 1 and 2 is “easy” compared to scope 3 and beyond. Because of its complexity, these reports, or rather guides, serve as a toolbox for companies who still lack the knowledge to take action. It’s never too late to start taking action and like all good but hard tasks, it takes effort and guidance, but it always pays off. #climateaction

Yesterday, we held our very first Net Zero and Compliance Day at the CBA offices. The day was packed with discussions on best practice, emerging technologies and regulatory challenges, looking at the European market. The day highlighted 3 key points: • Action is needed now, waiting on change in policy/regulation to take action is no longer feasible as we are just over 25 years away from Net Zero 2050. • Grant applications are for medium to high risk projects, having a targeted approach to the grant is best and taking into account how to market innovation is crucial. •Those in the chemical Supply Chain have a duty of care to promote, train, and support talent for the future of the industry as we cannot live our lives without chemicals. In this Spotlight Series interview we spoke to Rick Baek, from SGS Australia who talked to us about how he got started in the TICC industry, shared some of the secrets to his success, and discussed how he likes to unwind. We also asked him what he thought the biggest factor affecting the TICC industry is at the moment: "While technology is powering ahead in many areas of our lives, the TIC sector is slow in embracing the advantages that progress is offering. The challenge is to define the factors and investigate what solutions can be used to move forward. The critical thing holding TIC companies back is a sense of “we can’t do that” or “but we have always done it this way”, i.e. a mindset of resistance to change. Someone cleverly said: “It's not the big companies eating the small; it’s the fast companies eating the slow.” This is never truer than for the TIC industry in general."
