Since their introduction in the early 1980s, silicon MOSFETs have been the mainstay of power conversion technology, in particular for high frequency switching power converters. While the technology has advanced, many of the MOSFET characteristics have changed dramatically in recent years and designers need to update their knowledge base accordingly.   This seminar will cover characteristics of today’s high performance MOSFETs using their datasheets as reference. Instead of explaining away datasheet numbers line by line, we will be grouping them functionally, explain how they are characterized by the manufacturers and how they should be interpreted for real world applications. Unique features such as extremely nonlinear capacitances and body diode behavior will be discussed in depth. MOSFET datasheets carry a number of legacy parameters, specifically those relating to current and power ratings, that are no longer relevant in today’s design environments. These will be highlighted during the course. Designers will get a clear idea which numbers or curve they need to look up in the datasheet, and the impact those numbers will have on their design. A large number of misconceptions have accumulated over the years, in addition to legacy notions that need to be discarded. Designers will learn how to navigate around the misconceptions and avoid common design errors.   Recently there has been an explosive growth in power applications besides high frequency switching, such as motor control and automotive electronics. Today’s designers are a diverse group, with different backgrounds and different levels of exposure to power conversion practices. The seminar is aimed at MOSFET users in all these application areas and designed to be useful to engineers both at the intermediate and advanced levels.

🏆 AMAZING TESTIMENTS OF CLUSTERS 🏆 Dive into the great recap film of the 27th TCI Network Global Conference taking place in the city of Chihuahua, Mexico, sharing the intense week and key highlights 🇲🇽 Truly a complete and perfect conference with top level speakers, engaging program, motived cluster people all around and so many fun and nice moments. The hosts did an outstanding job in planing and executing the conference 🚀 For me personally the conference was also very special. After serving as 6 years as President for TCI Network, this conference was a a very special one for me. Honestly I couldn't haven't asked for a nicer, stronger or better ending of this part of my TCI journey. Thanks 🙏 Chihuahua you were second to none. Some key takeaways: ✨ Leadership is key: Still after 20 years of working in clusters, it was very touching for me to see the strong local and very motivated engagement in clusters. For the first time I had a session with cluster chairs discussing the importance of the strong private leadership. And we talked how TCI Network better could support the cluster boards and bring in global best practise. ✨ History matters: A very special session was a commemorative session with founders of TCI Network coming in from around the world. 28 years ago the idea behind TCI Network was born in Chihuahua and now we could meet to celebrate the history - and looking into the future of our dear global network. It was very touching to feel the dedication, longstanding engagement and the great reflections on where we're going. ✨ Clusters as tools: Clustering is a core concept for tackling societal challenges and empowering companies to be better prepared. During the conference we reflected on the role of clusters in a mission oriented economy with a great key note from Mariana Mazzucato. While Rebeca Eun Young Hwang underlined that clusters play a key role to support members on the AI journey. And I will keep on thinking about "I'm a replaceable in the age of AI?". A huge thanks to all for bringning this together - but without the one and only Luis Oliver Torres this would not have happened. A longstanding and dedicated friend and colleague pushing, shaping and raising the bar for cluster development and for TCI Network. Our DNA is all about continous learning, openness to learn, and sharing successes and failures. In Chihuahua we took a giant leap 🏹
